The Brentwood Spartans Girls' Volleyball team came into their matchup with the Serra Catholic Eagles tied for 3rd place in Class A Section 2 with Cardinal Wuerl North Catholic at 4-3.  The Eagles have run over all of their competition en route to a perfect 7-0 record in the section.

The first meeting between these two teams resulted in a 3-0 win for the Eagles back on September 11 in McKeesport.  Even thought the venue for this matchup was different, the result was just the same as Sera Catholic continued to demonstrate their continuity throughout the floor thanks to the service games of Melanie Mills,

Gabriella Piccolino, Erin Thomas, and Michelle Alfer, and the killing abilities of freshman Lauren Kolenik and senior Christina Pici.

The Eagles steam-rolled their way to a 25-15. 25-21. 25-19 win over the Spartans despite valiant efforts from Brooke McWilliams, Allison Mrkonja, and Alexandra Gibbons in the front court, and Tammy Garcia and Alexis Bubacz in the back court.

The Spartans got productive service games from Miranda Klein and Kaitlyn McNamara as McNamara's service pulled Brentwood to within 1 at 22-21 in Game 2, but that would be all the closer the Spartans would get to winning one game in the match on the night.

Alfer's serve was deadly in Game three with a couple of aces in a 6-0 run to start the 3rd game after Brentwood scored the first point, and the Eagles never looked back.

The Spartans fall to 4-4 in section play and at this pont are barely hanging on to the 3rd and final playoff spot in the section.  Serra Catholic remains a perfect 8-0 in the section.
