Deena DeBaldo scored four goals as Fox Chapel posted their 14th shutout of 2015 in their 5-0 regular season finale win over Hampton in a Class AAA non-conference match on Monday.
The Foxes scored 3 times in the first 15 minutes of the match, with DeBaldo opening the scoring with a great individual effort in the 3rd minute. DeBaldo ball handled around a Talbots defender, switching the ball from her right to her left foot twice, before burying a left footed shot into the upper right corner of the net from 7-yards out. She’d strike again in the 12th minute, this time off of a give and go with Taylor Cohen. Greta Lazzara would find the net 2:09 later, with DeBaldo netting the hat trick in the 25th minute with another assist from Cohen. The only goal of the 2nd half was DeBaldo in the 63rd minute, as she put the rebound of Elizabeth Heidenreich past Hampton goalkeeper Ashley Bergman.
Fox Chapel was dominate statistically as well, taking 32 total shots while holding Hampton to just 3. 20 of those shots were on goal, while the Talbots registered their only shot on goal for the game in the 70th minute. Despite giving up 5 goals, Bergman made 15 saves for Hampton, several of which were off of quality scoring chances for the Foxes.
With the win, Fox Chapel finished the regular season with an overall record of 16-2-0. The Foxes had already staked their claim as champions of Section-3 of Class-AAA, where they were a perfect 14-0- 0 in section play.
