Softball

Belle Vernon 7, Latrobe 0 — Talia Ross threw a three-hit shutout with a school record-tying 20 strikeouts to lead Belle Vernon to a nonsection victory.

Ross tied the school strikeout record set by Bailey Parshall in 2018. The first 19 outs she recorded were via strikeout.

Gracie Sokol had three hits, including a double, and three RBIs for the Leopards (5-0). Mia Zubovic singled, doubled and plated a pair, and Katie Sokol also singled and doubled.

Kayla Williams struck out 11 for Latrobe (1-3).
