Becca Braunsdorf had a big night for Mt. Lebanon (5-4-1), scoring both goals in a 2-0 victory over Section 1-4A leader Penn-Trafford in nonsection girls soccer Monday night. Aurelia Solomon scored for Penn-Trafford (8-3).

Belle Vernon 2, Steel Valley 0 – Payton Walsh and Abby Russell scored for Belle Vernon (6-6, 5-2) in a Section 1-2A win over Steel Valley (4-5, 3-4).

Berlin Brothersvalley 2, Ligonier Valley 0 – Katie Lisbon and Mikaela Glessner scored and Halie Childers recorded the shutout to lead Berlin Brothersvalley (2-6) to a nonsection win over Ligonier Valley (1-7).

Deer Lakes 9, East Allegheny 2 – Claire Cacurak had a hat trick and Tessa Hollibaugh added two goals to lead Deer Lakes (6-2-2, 4-1) past East Allegheny (1-4, 0-4) in a Section 4-2A win. Emily Jimerson, Paiton Yeager, Kayla Penn and Shannon Drum also scored for the Lancers.

Fox Chapel 5, Shaler 1 – Emily McKee scored four goals to lead Fox Chapel (9-0-1, 7-0) past Shaler (4-5-1, 2-4-1) in Section 1-3A.

Freeport 9, Highlands 0 – Elena Jenkins, Camryn Woods and Nia DiSanti each had a goal and an assist to lead Freeport (7-1) past Highlands in a nonsection match. Ella McConville, Peyton Los, CeCe Schlegel, Alyssa Cooper, Tess Hanak and Jocelynn Johns also scored and Alyssa Alcorn and Macey Edwards combined on the shutout.

Indiana 2, Armstrong 0 – Mae Turner scored two goals, with Emily Betsinger and Maggie Cunningham providing assists, to lead Indiana (3-6-1) past Armstrong (2-9) in a nonsection match.

Keystone Oaks 3, Ringgold 1 – Mackenzie Muick, Bailey Barkley and Aly Simon scored for Keystone Oaks (7-5, 5-2) in a Section 1-2A win over Ringgold (2-6-1, 1-5-1).

Kiski Area 5, Greensburg Salem 0 – Camryn Kunz scored two goals and Addison Bell, Sophia Hranica and Marlee Koziatek added a goal apiece for Kiski Area (5-4, 5-2) in a Section 4-3A win over Greensburg Salem (3-7, 1-6).

Latrobe 9, Connellsville 1 – Annalyse Bauer had a hat trick and Robin Reilly and Geli Dent added two goals apiece to lead Latrobe (5-2-1) past Connellsville (4-8) in a nonsection win. Maddy Petruzzi and Emerson Shine also scored for the Wildcats.

Laurel Highlands 2, Washington 1 – Elle Mancini and Adrianna Walker each scored for Laurel Highlands (4-4) in a nonsection win. Abby Henke scored for Washington (1-4).

Moon 5, Chartiers Valley 0 – Lilly Snyder had a hat trick and Emma Marquis and Kendall Dydek added a goal apiece to lead Moon (8-1, 7-0) to a Section 2-3A win over Chartiers Valley (0-7, 0-6).

Mt. Pleasant 1, Shady Side Academy 0 – Morgan Gesinski scored the decisive goal on a free kick, Laurel Rummel preserved the shutout and Mt. Pleasant (9-1) got past Shady Side Academy (4-6) in a nonsection match.

North Catholic 5, Knoch 0 – Simone Sharpless had a hand in all five goals, scoring three and assisting two others, as North Catholic (10-0, 5-0) beat Knoch (1-9-1, 1-5) in Section 1-2A. Kathleen Virostek and Mikaela Canzian also scored and Riley Marsico recorded the shutout.

Norwin 3, Baldwin 0 – Tatum Casper led Norwin (5-5-1) with two goals and Bella Buscemi added a goal in a nonsection win over Baldwin (5-6).

Peters Township 3, North Allegheny 0 – Marina Hajnosz, Natalie Faingnaert and Paige Malley scored and Molly Kubistek preserved the shutout as Peters Township (9-0-1) blanked North Allegheny (6-5) in a nonsection match.

Quaker Valley 6, Ambridge 0 – Annabel Miko had a hat trick and Anna Hanley, Ari Bosh and Mia Duckstein also scored for Quaker Valley (8-2-1, 5-1) in a Section 3-2A win over Ambridge (5-6, 2-4).

Seton LaSalle 2, Carlynton 0 – Kennedy Bakota and Sydney Towers scored for Seton LaSalle (6-1-2, 5-0-1) in a Section 3-A win over Carlynton (7-3, 4-3).

South Fayette 1, Upper St. Clair 0 (OT) – Gabby Beinecke scored the overtime winner and Caitlyn Thompson secured the shutout to lift South Fayette (8-3) to a nonsection win over Upper St. Clair (6-2-2).

South Park 10, Charleroi 1 – Taylor Vargo led South Park (7-4, 7-0) with four goals and Brooke Paylo had a hat trick in a Section 1-2A win over Charleroi (0-8, 0-7). Addison Kerr, Ella Voyten and Reese Recker also scored for the Eagles.

Southmoreland 6, Hempfield 2 – Aubrey Seder and Gia Van Dyke each scored twice and Sadie Premus and Megan Mehall added a goal apiece for Southmoreland (6-4) in a nonsection win. Jianna Patterson had a goal and an assist and Jessi Jury also scored for Hempfield (2-8).

Springdale 4, Ellis School 2 – Carissa Walsh scored twice, Bri Ross added a goal and two assists and Molly Hurley also had a goal to lead Springdale (8-0, 7-0) past Ellis School (4-6, 2-5) in Section 4-A.

West Allegheny 2, Bethel Park 1 (OT) – Chloe Hart and Ella Smith scored for West Allegheny (7-2-1, 5-1) in a Section 2-3A win over Bethel Park (5-3-2, 3-3-1).

Boys soccer

Belle Vernon 1 , Ringgold 0 (OT) – Jackson Pressel score the overtime winner, assisted by Trevor Kovatch, as Belle Vernon (4-5) beat Ringgold (5-3-1) in a nonsection match.

Bentworth 8, Yough 0 – Ryan Moessner led Bentworth (10-0) with six goals and Adam Moessner added two more in a nonsection win over Yough (1-4-2).

Beth-Center 4, Steel Valley 0 – Nekoda Bundy scored twice and Parker Amos and Hunter Bobbs added a goal apiece to lead Beth-Center (6-2-1) to a nonsection win over Steel Valley (2-7).

Hempfield 2, Southmoreland 1 – Isaac Pugliese and Sawyer Leuthold scored to lead Hempfield (3-7) to a nonsection victory over Southmoreland (6-4).

Mt. Pleasant 6, Derry 0 – Aidan Johnson collected three goals and two assists, Bryce Gamble scored twice and added an assist and Grant Zahrobsky also scored for Mt. Pleasant (8-4, 7-1) in a Section 4-2A win over Derry (3-7, 2-5). Grayson Gardner and Austin Duvall combined on the shutout.

Neshannock 5, South Side 0 – Zayden Herb scored five goals and Diego Porras had two assists for Neshannock (7-3, 2-3) in a Section 1-A win over South Side (2-8, 0-5).

Peters Township 5, Central Catholic 1 – Alex Parise, Jeven Kelly, Anthony Maiello, Parker Weiss and Colin Froelich scored to power Peters Township (9-1-1) to a nonsection win over Central Catholic (2-7-1).

Riverview 3, Penn Hills 0 – Chris O’Toole had a pair of goals, Renton Biondich also scored and Quinn Fischer recorded the shutout as Riverview (4-4) ran its winning streak to four with a nonsection victory over Penn Hills (2-9).

Trinity Christian 7, Jeannette 1 – Luke Kost scored four goals to lead Trinity Christian (6-2-1, 4-1-1) to a Section 4-A win. Jorel Taylor scored for Jeannette (2-7, 1-5).

Upper St. Clair 1, South Fayette 0 (OT) – Nikita Polstyanko scored the game-winning goal off a corner taken by Andrew Michalewsky to lead Upper St. Clair (6-3-1) to a nonsection win over South Fayette (4-6).

Field hockey

Fox Chapel 2, Penn-Trafford 0 – Atia DiGioia and Emma Srodes scored as Fox Chapel (3-5) topped Penn-Trafford (5-3) in Class 2A.

Boys golf

WPIAL championships – McGuffey’s Logan Crowe shot a 1-over 73 to take the Class 2A first-round lead at Youghiogheny CC, one stroke ahead of Shady Side Academy’s Landon Mauser and Quaker Valley’s Ethan Dai and two shots up on Laurel’s Eli Bintrim. The top 36 players and ties qualified for the final round Oct. 2 at Sewickley Heights CC.

Girls golf

WPIAL championships – Peters Township’s Ellie Benson shot a 3-over 75 to take the first-round lead in Class 3A at Willowbrook CC, three strokes ahead of Pine-Richland’s Siena Smith and four up on Peters Township teammate Sophia Severns. Defending champ Mya Morgan of Elizabeth Forward leads a group of four players at 9-over 81.

In Class 2A, Eden Christian’s Pearl Lundgren took a big lead with a 3-over 75. Shady Side Academy’s Alyssa Zhang (83) is second, followed by Chartiers-Houston’s JoJo Jaskulski and Seton LaSalle’s Emily Obara (85). The final round is set for Sept. 30 at Butler CC.

Girls tennis

Quaker Valley 5, Hopewell 0 – Livia Jobbins and Jane Lenhard at No. 1 and No. 2 singles and Hannah Stein and Kate Miller at No. 1 doubles won their matches without dropping a game to lead Quaker Valley to a sweep in Section 5-2A. Keira Cowher and the team of Parker Barnes and Emaan Ashfaq also won in straight sets for the Quakers.

South Park 5, McGuffey 0 – Grace Kempton, Nicole Camargo and Kaitlyn Mattas swept singles, dropping a total of three games, to lead South Park to a Section 2-2A win. The Eagles doubles teams of Reagan Love/Gabby Peiritish and Amelia Tabak/Emma Kienic also won in straight sets.

Girls volleyball

Albert Gallatin 3, West Greene 0 – Leah Myers had seven kills and six aces, Mia Myers added seven kills and 14 assists and Kymber Hlatky Houze recorded five kills to lead Albert Galaltin to a nonsection win.

Brownsville 3, Uniontown 1 – Skyler Gates had 36 kills and Abigayle Thomas added six kills to lead Brownsville to a nonsection win over Uniontown.

Canon-McMillan 3, Norwin 0 – Natalie Carr had 15 kills and five aces, Brooke Peters dished out 19 assists and Sophia Powell had nine digs to lead Canon-McMillan to a nonsection win.

Geibel 3, Calvary Chapel 0 – Mallory Clemmer led the way with 16 kills, Emma Larkin added nine kills and Nolace Petrovsky recorded six kills and four aces to lead Geibel (1-6) to its first victory since 2021.
