High school roundup for Sept. 15, 2018: Thomas Jefferson boys edge South Fayette

Jack Sella scored with 38 seconds left in the first overtime to give Thomas Jefferson a 1-0 win over South Fayette (3-4, 2-2) in a Section 4-AAA boys soccer game Saturday.
Thomas Jefferson improved to 4-2-1 overall and 3-1-1 in section play.
Highlands 1, Hampton 0 — Gabe Norris scored a goal off an assist from Kolbe Palermo in double overtime to give Highlands (3-4, 3-2) the Section 1-AAA win against Hampton (4-2, 4-1). Gabe Anthony made 12 saves for the shutout.
Serra Catholic 8, South Allegheny 0 — Joey Folino scored three goals and added two assists as Serra Catholic (2-1) shut out South Allegheny (2-5) in nonsection play. Jimmy Moon and Chris Salemi added a goal and an assist each.
Freeport 2, Shady Side Academy 1 — Hunter Hardin scored on a direct kick from 30 yards midway through the second half to lift Freeport (5-2, 3-1) past Shady Side Academy (2-1-1, 2-1-1) in Section 2-AA. Goalkeeper Luke Heider was credited with eight saves in the win.
Kiski Area 4, Knoch 2 — Four different players scored for Kiski Area (3-3, 3-2) in its Section 1-AAA win at Knoch (2-4-2, 1-3-1).
Central Catholic 3, Shaler 2 — Liam Pulford, Sean Knipp and Hayden Brook scored as Central Catholic (3-3, 2-3) beat Section 1-AAAA opponent Shaler (1-6, 0-5).
Ringgold 5, Uniontown 0 — Kobe Norfleet scored three goals, and Frank Lowsetter added three assists as Ringgold (4-4, 3-1) won a Section 3-3A game.
Chartiers Houston 3, Bentworth 0 — Jake Cimino scored two goals and Matt Bucha added a goal and an assist to lead Chartiers Houston (1-4-1, 1-3) to the Section 4A shutout over Bentworth (1-6, 1-4).
Greensburg Central Catholic 1, Trinity Christian 0 — Luke Mort scored the game’s only goal in the first half as Greensburg Central Catholic (3-1, 3-0) earned a win over Trinity Christian (4-2, 3-2) in a Section 2-A game.
Penn-Trafford 2, Hempfield 1 — Tyler Pisarek scored the winning goal with two minutes left in overtime to give Penn-Trafford (3-3, 3-2) a Section 3-4A win.
Franklin Regional 1, Chartiers Valley 0 — Joseph Bonfiglio scored with five minutes left to play as Franklin Regional (6-0, 5-0) held Chartiers Valley (2-3-2, 2-1-1) without a shot in its Section 4-3A win.
Southmoreland 3, Beth-Center 0 — In Section 3-2A, Noah Kinter scored twice as Southmoreland (2-3, 2-2) defeated Beth-Center (4-3, 3-2).
Springdale 2, Eden Christian 1 — Mike Krason scored the game-winner and the Class A No. 5-ranked Dynamos scored two second-half goals as Springdale edged Section 3-A rival Eden Christian (4-2, 2-2). Alex Barch opened the scoring for Springdale (5-0-1, 4-0-1) and goalkeeper Mike Zolnierczyk had three saves.
Riverview 2, Aquinas 1 — Clay Solares scored the game-winner seven minutes into the second half as Riverview (2-3, 1-3) picked up a Section 1-AAA win over Aquinas (0-5, 0-4). Nico Catanzaro opened the scoring for Riverview (2-3, 1-3) and goalkeeper Mark McCellan had three saves.
Girls soccer
Hampton 1, Central Valley 0 — Amanda Moser scored the game’s only goal with two minutes left to give Hampton (4-2) the nonsection win at Central Valley (2-3).
Trinity 7, Uniontown 1 — Alyssa Clutter scored four goals to lead Trinity (5-1) to a nonsection win at Uniontown (0-6).
Canon-McMillan 6, North Hills 0 — Emily Clopp notched a hat trick as Canon-McMillan (3-1) shut out North Hills (3-3-1) in nonsection play.
Waynesburg 6, Bentworth 2 — In nonsection play, Bailey Fudala scored three goals and Rhea Kijowski added two as Waynesburg (3-2) defeated Bentworth (4-1).
Hempfield 2, Allderdice 1 — Sydney Patrick scored twice to lead Hempfield (2-2, 2-2) to a Section 3-4A win against Allderdice (0-4, 0-4).
Penn-Trafford 9, Penn Hills 0 — Alexis Garia scored three goals, and Jordan Lawrence had two as Penn-Trafford (3-1, 3-0) won a Section 3-4A game. Megan Giesey notched the shutout.
Belle Vernon 11, Albert Gallatin 0 — Isabella Laurita and Jillian Butchki scored first-half hat tricks to lead Belle Vernon (3-1, 2-0) to the Section 2-3A win against Albert Gallatin (0-5, 0-3). Morgan Einodshofer added two goals in the second half.
Mt. Pleasant 3, South Allegheny 1 — Carsyn Rivardo, Mackenzie Leeder and Kayla Moninger scored to lift Mt. Pleasant (4-2, 2-2) to a Section 2-3A win
Norwin 4, Kiski Area 0 — Katelyn Kauffman, Abby Bartos and Lacey Bernick all scored to lead Norwin (4-1) to a nonsection win.
North Catholic 5, Knoch 4 (2OT) — North Catholic (4-2) scored the game-winner with 1 minute, 19 seconds remaining in the second overtime to pickup the nonsection win over Knoch (1-4). Linsie Galbreath scored a pair of goals and Heather Wittmar and Shiann Thomas both scored to pace the Knights.
Deer Lakes 3, Springdale 1 — Liliy Litrun and Ashley McAdams turned in a goal and assist to help lift No. 5 ranked Deer Lakes past rival Springdale (0-2) in a nonsection matchup. Madeline Boulos added a goal and goalkeeper Gabby Weber had five saves for Deer Lakes (5-0).
Football
West Greene 47, Mapletown 0 — West Greene (3-1, 3-0) opened a 33-0 lead in the first quarter and rolled to a Class A Tri-County South win.
Ben Jackson ran for 161 yards and three touchdowns on five carries for the Pioneers.
