Finn Wentz scored the winning goal on a penalty kick in overtime to lead Sewickley Academy (6-6-1, 3-3-1) to a 1-0 victory over Freedom (5-5-1, 4-2-1) in Section 1-A boys soccer Tuesday night.
Avonworth 5, Keystone Oaks 0 – Cody Cwynar had two goals and an assist, Abdul Wahab Shuiab, Jimmy Quinn and Calder Mahan also scored and Alex Rowe recorded the shutout for Avonworth (10-2-2, 10-1-1) in a section 2-3A win over Keystone Oaks (4-7-1, 4-7-1)
Beaver 4, Hopewell 0 – Anthony Furda, Seth Kullen, Shane Ebbitt and Calib Kullen netted a goal apiece for Beaver (7-4-1, 6-4-1) in a Section 2-2A shutout of Hopewell (5-4, 5-4).
Beaver County Christian 2, Neshannock 1 (OT) – Tyler Guevara scored with 30 seconds left in the first overtime and Ben Crefeld added a goal to lift Beaver County Christian (9-3, 5-2) past Neshannock (7-4-1, 2-4-1) in Section 1-A. Zayden Herb scored for the Lancers.
Bentworth 14, Chartiers-Houston 0 – Ryan Moessner and Adam Moessner each recorded a hat trick while Caden Hackinson and Aiden McMurray scored two goals apiece to lead Bentworth (11-0, 5-0) in a Section 2-A shutout of Chartiers-Houston (1-12, 1-5). Billy Moyer, Dillan Colbert and Austin Hollier each tacked on a goal for the Bearcats.
Beth-Center 6, Greensburg Central Catholic 1 – Parker Amos recorded a hat trick and had two assists while Nekoda Bundy, Ryder Roule and Hunter Bobbs each added a goal for Beth-Center (8-2-1, 3-2) in a Section 2-A win over Greensburg Central Catholic (3-6-1, 3-3). Grant Brewer scored for the Centurions. Rylan Piper had a pair of assists for the Bulldogs.
Bethel Park 10, McKeesport 0 – Xavier Jackson and Rowan Darr scored two goals apiece for Bethel Park (8-3, 8-2) in a Section 2-3A win over McKeesport (0-13, 0-10).
Charleroi 15, Greensburg Salem 0 – Dylan Klinger had a hat trick and Landon Barcus and Blake Pendo each scored two goals for Charleroi (11-0, 10-0) in a Section 4-2A win over Greensburg Salem (2-12, 1-9).
Chartiers Valley 5, Baldwin 1 – John Krug recorded a hat trick while Jake Walker and Jonah Mastren-Williams each picked up a goal as Chartiers Valley (7-5, 6-2) beat Baldwin (0-11-1, 0-8-1) in Section 4-3A.
Deer Lakes 3, Highlands 0 – Connor Moore, Zane Spence and Cuyler Crim each scored a goal as Deer Lakes (11-2-1, 9-1) defeated Highlands (4-5-1, 3-5-1) in Section 1-2A.
Elizabeth Forward 3, McGuffey 1 – Luca Valerio, Ethan Childers and Aidan Davis scored to lead Elizabeth Forward (9-3-1, 8-1-1) to a Section 3-2A victory over McGuffey (7-6, 4-5).
Franklin Regional 14, Uniontown 0 – Danny Cristafano scored four goals while Jovan Sankoorikal and Ashton Demore scored two goals apiece to pace Franklin Regional (8-2, 7-1) in a Section 3-3A win over Uniontown (2-10, 0-9). Mitchell Murray, Dom Mascara, Aiden Alexander, Cruise Lananna, Josh Chen and Tyler Pipon each tallied a goal for the Panthers.
Hampton 2, Kiski Area 1 – Wyatt Bonfili scored on a penalty kick and Xavier Ware added another goal to lead Hampton (7-2-3, 5-1-3) to a Section 1-3A victory. Adam Troya scored for Kiski Area (0-13, 0-10).
Hempfield 5, Penn Hills 2 – Alessio Ferraresi had two goals and an assist, Braden Crowe also scored twice and Sawyer Leuthold collected a goal and an assist for Hempfield (5-8, 2-5) in a Section 1-4A win over Penn Hills (2-11, 0-7).
Mars 3, Indiana 1 – Zack Angoff had a pair of goals and Miles Frazier also scored for Mars (9-1-3, 7-1-2) in a Section 1-3A win over first-place Indiana (11-2, 8-2).
Moon 7, West Allegheny 1 – Aedan Costa scored four goals, Marc Haupt followed with a pair of goals and Zech Balbach had a goal and three assists to power Moon (14-0, 9-0) over West Allegheny (6-5, 5-3) in Section 4-3A. Fin Dengel and Eric Haupt each had assists for the Tigers. Colton Yonker scored for West A.
Mt. Pleasant 5, Yough 0 – Aidan Johnson, Jarett Garn and Grant Zahrobsky each had a goal and an assist while Tyke Snyder and Bryson Bankosh scored a goal apiece as Mt. Pleasant (10-4, 9-1) scored five first-half goals in a Section 4-2A win against Yough (3-6-2, 3-4-2). Tyler Kurtz preserved the shutout for the Vikings.
Norwin 2, Central Catholic 1 (OT) – Ryan Schoemer’s second goal of the game was the overtime winner as Norwin (8-4, 6-1) defeated Central Catholic (2-9-1, 2-5) in Section 1-4A.
OLSH 8, Brentwood 1 – Jon Mackin recorded a hat trick while Seth Therrien and Chad Minton each scored two goals to boost OLSH (9-1, 7-0) over Brentwood (5-7, 1-6) in Section 3-A. Isaac Tarbuck added a goal for the Chargers.
Penn-Trafford 8, West Mifflin 0 – JJ Porter and Yuriy Bidochko scored two goals apiece for Penn-Trafford (6-4-1, 5-3-1) in a Section 3-3A win over West Mifflin 2-7, 2-6).
Peters Township 3, Canon-McMillan 0 – Alex Parise, Colin Froelich and Dante Pusateri each scored a goal and Markus Bizyak kept a clean sheet as Peters Township (11-1-1, 7-0) continued its unbeaten section streak with a shutout of Canon-McMillan (7-3-1, 3-4) in Section 2-4A.
Plum 5, Gateway 1 – Christian Alter scored a hat trick, Andy Strasser had a goal and an assist, Austin Kolankowski also scored and Gage Adinolfi dished out two assists for Plum (11-0-3, 7-0) in a Section 1-4A win over Gateway (7-5, 4-3).
Seneca Valley 5, Fox Chapel 1 – Tyler Prex scored four goals and Zach Garma chipped in with one as Seneca Valley (9-4, 4-3) cruised to a Section 3-4A win against Fox Chapel (7-3-1, 5-2).
Serra Catholic 3, Bishop Canevin 0 – Matthew Sedlak, Brayden Graham and Matias Kostley each scored a goal for Serra Catholic (3-10, 3-4) in a Section 3-A win over Bishop Canevin (1-11, 0-7). Nate Loughner made five saves for the shutout for the Eagles.
Seton LaSalle 2, Steel Valley 1 – Tyler Kovalcik and Darius Norkevicus scored a goal each as Seton LaSalle (9-3, 8-2) defeated Steel Valley (2-10, 2-8) in Section 3-2A.
Shaler 3, Knoch 2 (OT) – David Castro netted the winning goal with three seconds left in the second overtime and Tyler Shaw and Matt Marsula also scored to lead Shaler (4-7-1, 4-5-1) to a Section 1-3A win over Knoch (5-9, 4-6).
South Fayette 4, Laurel Highlands 0 – Dylan Davis, Grevil Garcia Ardon and Ryan Bradley each scored first-half goals while Tyler Sidhom added another in the second half as South Fayette (6-7, 6-4) blanked Laurel Highlands (5-7-1, 3-7) in Section 2-3A.
Southmoreland 6, Derry 3 – Jack Smith netted a pair of goals and Landon Delara, Liam Smith, Hunter Ryan and Ben Schaeffer also scored to pace Southmoreland (8-5, 6-3) in a Section 4-2A win over Derry (3-9, 2-7).
Springdale 3, Jeannette 0 – Patrick Wylly scored a pair of goals and Nate Dubas tacked on another as Springdale (10-2, 5-1) blanked Jeannette (2-9, 1-7) in Section 4-A.
Thomas Jefferson 7, Albert Gallatin 0 – Brayden Miller had three goals and three assists to power Thomas Jefferson (8-1-2, 7-1-2) to a Section 2-3A win over Albert Gallatin (1-9, 1-8). Owen Householder, Jake Shoemaker, Logan Barron and Dipson Khadka also scored for the Jaguars.
Trinity 1, Ringgold 0 (OT) – Cooper Cincinnati scored on a header in overtime to propel Trinity (6-4-2, 6-2-1) past Ringgold (7-5-1, 6-3-1) in Section 2-3A.
Trinity Christian 6, St. Joseph 1 – Luke Kost scored a hat trick to lead Trinity Christian (8-3-1, 5-2-1) past St. Joseph (2-10, 0-7) in Section 4-A.
Upper St. Clair 2, Mt. Lebanon 0 – Ben Murtough scored a goal in the first half and Anderson Ploeger tacked on another goal in the second half to ensure a Section 2-4A win for Upper St. Clair (8-3-1, 6-1) over Mt. Lebanon (7-6, 3-4).
Waynesburg 4, Brownsville 2 – Brendan Cole had a pair of goals while Isaac McCartney and Dylan Pester also scored to lead Waynesburg (3-7-1, 3-6-1) to a Section 4-2A win over Brownsville (2-9-1 2-7-1). Camden Wellington scored a goal for the Falcons.
Girls soccer
Thomas Jefferson 7, Oakland Catholic 2 – Sami Maglicco, Ashlynn Fry and Aubrey Little had two goals each and Olivia Della Lucia also scored for Thomas Jefferson (7-4-1, 6-1) in a Section 3-3A win over Oakland Catholic (4-7, 3-4). Sam Wessel, Luke Gisler and Joey Cortese combined on the shutout.
Girls volleyball
Beaver 3, Mars 0 – Kailyn Connelly had 16 kills, Lanie Malobabich followed with 12 kills, Aubrey Bumblis had 19 digs and Zoe Ringer produced 32 assists for Beaver (9-3) in a nonsection win against Mars (8-4).
Brownsville 3, Washington 0 – Payton Evanchak had 11 assists, Skyler Gates produced 11 kills and Ashley Evanchak had 21 digs as Brownsville (6-7, 4-5) swept Washington (1-8, 1-8) in Section 3-2A.
Frazier 3, Geibel 0 – Addison Schultz had 20 kills, Maddie Salisbury followed with 12 kills and Gracen Vaughn had nine as Frazier (8-3, 6-0) swept Geibel (1-11, 0-5) in Section 4-A.
Hampton 3, Armstrong 0 – Payton Galietti had 19 digs and 12 kills, Marin Katona-Bock had 15 digs and Lilly Muczinski produced 32 assists and 15 digs as Hampton (8-4) beat Armstrong (7-3) in straight sets in nonsection play.
Hempfield 3, Baldwin 0 – Shelby Waryanka had 23 digs, Jill Sowers followed with 17 digs, Claire Mitchell had 14 kills, Sadie Kuhns added 11 kills and Preslee Horchak produced 37 assists as Hempfield (6-4) defeated Baldwin (3-7) in a nonsection match.
Jefferson-Morgan 3, Uniontown 0 – Alisa Long had 26 digs and 12 kills, Isabelle Bazzoli added 16 kills, Emille Bazzoli followed with 18 digs, Mia Bertagnolli dished out 18 assists and Leighana Gooden had 17 assists as Jefferson-Morgan (5-6) swept Uniontown (0-11) in a nonsection match.
