High school roundup for Nov. 21, 2024: Tucker Cullen’s hat trick sparks Fox Chapel

Tucker Cullen scored a hat trick and Miles Carey made 43 saves to lead Fox Chapel to a 4-1 win over Penn-Trafford in PIHL Class 2A hockey Thursday night. Pierce Osterholm also scored for Fox Chapel (4-1-1). Rylan Kistle scored for Penn-Trafford (7-2).

Bishop McCort 2, Baldwin 1 – Jack Pryor scored with 1:06 to play and Mikaels Vasilevskis netted the game-winner with 56 seconds to go to lead Bishop McCort (3-4-1) to a comeback win in Class 2A. Mack Dempsey scored for Baldwin (2-5-1).

Blackhawk 2, Wheeling Central Catholic 1 – Dylan Leiper and Dominic Giocondi scored to lead Blackhawk (5-2) to a Class A win. Gary Hatfield scored for Wheeling Central Catholic (4-4).

Burrell 4, Bishop Canevin 3 – Ryan Burkett scored the game-winning goal with 7:08 left in the third period for Burrell (7-1) in Division 2. Julian Kemp had two goals and an assist and Mike Morazczyk added a goal and an assist. Brian Kalanish scored twice and Aidan Malay added a goal for Bishop Canevin (3-3).

Chartiers Valley 8, Westmont Hilltop 1 – Noah Callendar collected three goals and an assist and Austin Tornabene, Ryan Kumpf and Tyler Held each had a goal and an assist to lead Chartiers Valley (8-0) to a Class A win. Conner Gorman scored for Westmont Hilltop (1-8-1).

Hampton 4, Freeport 1 – Preston Cochran scored twice and Scott Cameron and Xander Tolley each added a goal to lead Hampton (4-6) to a Class A win. Bantam Semanko scored for Freeport (1-8).

Hempfield 5, Armstrong 4 – Jonny Holtzman scored the game-winning goal with 14 seconds left to lead Hempfield (3-3) to a Class 2A win. JJ Williams had two goals and two assists and Dane Busch also scored twice for Hempfield. Aiden Morando scored with 1:29 left and Derek Crissman tied the game with 28 seconds to go for Armstrong (4-4). Jake Graff had a goal and two assists.

Knoch 7, Central Valley 3 – Kevin Justi had two goals and two assists and Nick Olshanski added two goals and one assist to power Knoch (3-1-1) to a Division 2 win. Dylan Reich, Cam Christie and Brayden Knauss also scored for Knoch. Treyton Palocsik scored twice and Cameron McGuire added a goal for Central Valley (2-5).

Latrobe 5, Canon-McMillan 2 – Cam Mikulsky scored twice and Preston Miller added a goal and two assists to lead Latrobe (4-2-1) to a Class 2A victory. Dale Henigan and Joey Crimboli also scored for Latrobe. Rocco Musto and Austin Smith scored for Canon-McMillan (3-5-1).

North Allegheny 6, Thomas Jefferson 3 – Tommy Vidra scored twice, Marc Joyson had a goal and an assist and Johnnie Castillo, Ed Scherer and William Kasunich also scored for North Allegheny (3-2-1) in a Class 3A win. Lucas Blose had a goal and two assists and Carter Merrell and Cam Lorenzi also scored for Thomas Jefferson (4-4).

Quaker Valley 2 , Shaler 1 – Ben McHenry had a goal and an assist, Jace Vasbinder also scored and Landon Buterbaugh made 26 saves to lead Quaker Valley (9-0) to a Class A win. Blake Whiteman scored and Jackson Fox made 33 saves for Shaler (7-2).

Wheeling Park 5, Indiana 2 – Luke Simonetti had a hat trick and added an assist and Landon Szazynski added a goal and two assists for Wheeling Park (6-1-1) in a Class A win. Brady Oakes had a goal and an assist for Indiana (5-3).
