Emma Paul scored 45 points, hitting 10 3-pointers and breaking the school single-game scoring record, as Armstrong defeated Mars, 78-70, in Section 2-5A girls basketball Thursday night.
Sarai Weaver added 18 for the River Hawks (7-4, 2-2). Grace Zatezalo and Carmella McDole scored 17 points apiece and Alexis Cashdollar had 12 for the Fightin’ Planets (6-5, 2-1).
Aliquippa 57, Sewickley Academy 43 – Carla Brown scored 15 points and Denim Odom followed with 14 to lead Aliquippa (7-1, 3-0) to a Section 1-2A win. Libby Eannarino scored 26 and Emma Eannarino added 12 for Sewickley Academy (3-5, 0-3).
Apollo-Ridge 55, Ligonier Valley 47 – Sophie Yard led with 24 points, Jaden Mull added 13 and Mya McClain had 12 to lead Apollo-Ridge (5-7, 1-1) to a Section 3-3A win. Lindsay Gaskey scored 18 points for Ligonier Valley (4-7, 1-1).
Aquinas Academy 58, Eden Christian 48 – Violet Johnson led with 19 points, Emily Fisher followed with 14 and Tess Duer and Ellie Junker added 10 points apiece to lead Aquinas Academy (10-2, 1-1) to a Section 1-A win. Emmie Smith scored 14 points and Hope Haring had 11 for Eden Christian (5-6, 0-1).
Belle Vernon 42, Southmoreland 9 – Emerson LaCarte scored 10 points for Belle Vernon (6-5, 3-1) in a Section 3-4A win over Southmoreland (0-10, 0-3).
Blackhawk 67, Hopewell 28 – Alena Fusetti scored 20 points and hit six 3-pointers, Andrea Kinger added 16 and Aubree Hupp had 11 for Blackhawk (10-2, 2-0) in a Section 2-4A win. Caylee Sundy led Hopewell (5-6, 0-2) with 11 points and Avery Boyd had 10.
California 53, Beth-Center 31 – Rakiyah Porter led California (5-4, 2-1) with 20 points and Hayley Gibson added 15 in a Section 4-2A win. Kayleigh McDaniel scored 10 points for Beth-Center (5-6, 2-2).
Carmichaels 31, Bentworth 28 (OT) – Alayna Simon scored 11 points to lead Carmichaels (2-9, 1-2) to a Section 4-2A win. Amber Sallee led Bentworth (3-9, 0-4) with 15 points.
Carrick 32, Propel Braddock Hills 29 – Jayonna Johnson scored 11 points to lead Carrick (4-4) past Propel Braddock Hills (1-7) in a nonsection win.
Central Valley 74, Ambridge 17 – Nyah Hayes scored 12 points, Izzy Miller added 10 and Dominique Douglas had eight for Central Valley (4-5, 1-1) in a Section 2-4A win. Nevaeh Cox scored eight points for Ambridge (1-11, 0-2).
Chartiers-Houston 64, Washington 40 – Allison Wingard led with 22 points, Amelia Brose added 15 and Mia Mitrik had 14 to help Chartiers-Houston (7-3, 4-0) to a Section 4-2A win. Olivia Woods scored 14 points and Taraysia Finley had 11 for Washington (3-6, 2-1).
Chartiers Valley 57, Baldwin 55 (OT) – Ella Cupka scored 22 points and Emma Reynolds added 13 for Chartiers Valley (8-1, 3-0) in a Section 2-6A win. Lynsey Bernotas led Baldwin (6-5, 0-4) with 20 points and Mary Vargo had 15.
Elizabeth Forward 55, Laurel Highlands 41 – Chloe Zombek scored 15 points and Addyson Nigut added 10 to lead Elizabeth Forward (8-2, 3-0) to a Section 3-4A win. Miyah Harris led Laurel Highlands (9-1, 2-1) with 15 points and Ayrianna Sumpter had 14.
Ellwood City 62, Riverside 40 – Claire Noble scored 20 points and Elsie Sturgeon and Kayla Jones added 13 points apiece to lead Ellwood City (8-4, 1-1) to a Section 1-3A win. Delana Fox led Riverside (3-5, 0-2) with 19 points and Emma Thellman had 13.
Fort Cherry 51, Brentwood 24 – Raney Staub scored 24 points, including the 1,000th of her career, to lead Fort Cherry (7-3, 2-0) to a Section 2-2A win over Brentwood (4-6, 1-1).
Geibel 37, West Greene 35 – Emma Larkin scored 33 points and hit six 3-points to lead Geibel (8-3, 1-1) past West Greene (2-7, 1-1) in a Section 2-A win. Kasie Meek led the Pioneers with 15 points.
Hampton 54, Fox Chapel 46 – Meghan Murray scored 24 points, Emma Rick added 11 and McKenna Andrews had nine to lead Hampton (6-5, 2-1) past Fox Chapel (3-9, 1-3) in a Section 2-5A win. Skye Byrnes led the Foxes with 14 points and Lyla Jablon had 11.
Indiana 53, Gateway 13 – Bella Antonucci led Indiana (8-2, 3-0) with 11 points and Cassie Boyer added 10 in a Section 1-5A win over Gateway (2-9, 0-4).
Knoch 51, Derry 16 – Adah Fuller scored 19 points, including four 3-pointers, and Karlee Buterbaugh added 14 to power Knoch (6-4, 2-1) in Section 1-4A. Jane Huss scored seven for Derry (4-8, 1-3).
Monessen 59, Jefferson-Morgan 33 – Madison Johnson led Monessen (5-1, 2-0) with 13 points, Na’Jaziah Carter and MyAsia Majors added 11 points apiece, and Sidney Campbell had 10 in a Section 2-A win. Kayla Larkin scored 13 points for Jefferson-Morgan (2-10, 0-2). It was career win No. 350 for Monessen coach Janine Vertacnik.
Montour 60, West Allegheny 39 – Jordyn Wolfe scored 16 points and Abigail Brandy added 14 for Montour (5-5, 1-1) in a Section 4-5A win. Alexis Santucci led West Allegheny (4-6, 0-2) with 14 points and Ella Smith had 13.
Mt. Lebanon 35, Upper St. Clair 34 – Clare Cramer scored 24 points and Peyton Collins added nine to lead Mt. Lebanon (6-5, 3-1) past Upper St. Clair (6-6, 1-2) in a Section 2-6A win. Kate Moore and Ryan Prunzik scored nine points apiece for the Panthers.
Mt. Pleasant 46, Deer Lakes 41 – Riley Gesinski hit for 25 points to power Mt. Pleasant (8-3, 1-1) to a Section 3-3A victory. Sophia Laurenza scored 17 and Layne Loper added 12 for Deer Lakes (4-7, 0-2).
Neshannock 62, Laurel 40 – Payton Newman scored 21 points and Nina Medure added 13 to help Neshannock (6-4, 2-0) to a Section 1-3A win. Shyan Tindall led Laurel (2-9, 0-2) with 15 points, including four 3-pointers.
North Allegheny 57, Pine-Richland 33 – Kellie McConnell scored 19 points, Lydia Betz followed with 18 and Caroline Henderson added 12 to lead North Allegheny (7-1, 1-1) to a Section 1-6A win. Madison Zavasky led Pine-Richland (2-7, 1-1) with 18 points.
Northgate 39, Carlynton 26 – Samiyah Hardison scored 15 points for Northgate (3-7, 1-1) in a Section 2-2A win. Carlee Hughes and Cydney McClendon each scored nine for Carlynton (3-8, 0-2).
Norwin 58, Butler 26 – Kendall Berger led Norwin (9-2, 2-0) with 14 points and Ava Kobus added 10 in a Section 1-6A win. Amelia McMichael scored nine points for Butler (2-9, 0-2).
Oakland Catholic 68, Thomas Jefferson 33 – Led by 20 points from Mia LeDonne, 18 from Josie Fontana and 16 from London Creach, Oakland Catholic (10-0, 4-0) picked up a Section 3-5A win. Riley McCabe led Thomas Jefferson (5-6, 2-1) with eight points.
Quaker Valley 35, Beaver 28 – Oumou “Mimi” Thiero scored 12 points and Madi Chapman added 10 to lead Quaker Valley (2-7, 2-0) past Beaver (4-8, 1-1) in Section 2-4A. Kylie Conley had 11 for the Bobcats.
Riverview 52, Hillel Academy 10 – Katerina Tsambis scored 12 points and Lily Bauer added 10 for Riverview (9-1, 2-0) in a Section 3-A win. Sima Reinherz led Hillel Academy (0-5, 0-2) with eight points.
Rochester 43, Freedom 36 – Avah Williams and Aleaya Mercier scored 12 points apiece to lead Rochester (6-4, 3-0) past Freedom (5-6, 3-1) in Section 1-2A. Tia Yellock added 10 for the Rams.
Seneca Valley 56, Hempfield 51 – Natalie Hambly scored 20 points and Emerson Peffer added 11 for Seneca Valley (9-2, 2-0) in a Section 1-6A win. Ashley Hosni and Sarah Podkul scored 13 and Allie Cervola added 10 for Hempfield (7-4, 0-2).
Shaler 52, New Castle 33 – Reese Smetanka scored 14 points and Hilary Quinn added 12 to lead Shaler (5-7, 2-1) to a Section 2-5A win. Rihanna Boice led New Castle (2-11, 0-4) with 11 points.
South Allegheny 47, East Allegheny 12 – Ella Lotz scored 10 points to lead South Allegheny (4-7, 1-1) in Section 2-3A. Ronniya Lawrence scored seven for East Allegheny (0-11, 0-2).
South Park 56, Brownsville 45 – Andrea Kuczma scored 14 points and Hayley Bennett added 11 to lead South Park (6-3, 2-0) to a Section 4-3A win. Skylar Gates led Brownsville (7-5, 0-1) with 22 points.
St. Joseph 56, Jeannette 28 – Julie Spinelli scored 19 points to lead St. Joseph (9-2, 2-0) to a Section 3-A win. Emma Swierczweski added 12 and Anna Kreinbrook had 11. Adriana Allison led Jeannette (5-4, 0-1) with 13 points.
Union 58, Bishop Canevin 22 – Kelly Cleaver scored 18 points to lead Union (8-5, 2-0) to a Section 1-A victory. Mia Preuhs added 14 and Kylie Fruehstorfer had 11 for the Scotties. Kyla Cooley led Bishop Canevin (2-7, 0-1) with eight points.
Waynesburg 62, McGuffey 32 – Kaley Rohanna led Waynesburg (11-1, 2-0) with 26 points and five 3-pointers and Avery Davis added 17 in a Section 4-3A win. Libby Mallah scored eight points for McGuffey (9-2, 0-2).
Yough 47, Charleroi 39 – Autumn Matthews scored 16 points, Hailey Bock had 12 and Brooke Weiland added 11 for Yough (6-4, 1-0) in a Section 4-3A win. Riley Jones and Ella Sypolt scored 15 points apiece for Charleroi (4-5, 0-2).

Butler 6, Greensburg Salem 5 (OT) – Brayden Hardsock’s second goal of the game was the overtime winner for Butler (7-8) in Class A. Jaxon Salata, Anthony Trombatt and Carter Blystone each had a goal and an assist for Butler. Carter Cherok had a hat trick and added an assist, Chase Kushner added a goal and two assists and Hunter Webb had a goal and an assist for Greensburg Salem (8-4-2).
Central Catholic 5, Bethel Park 3 – Evan Benscoter had a hat trick and Noah Hritz and Josh Moline each added a goal and an assist to power Central Catholic (5-7) in Class 3A. Vincent Klingensmith, Joseph Depasquale and Ethan Cooley scored for Bethel Park (7-4-1).
Chartiers Valley 4, Beaver 0 – Dayton Yanko, Gavin Waldron, Brady Nairn and Dylan Shamonsky scored and Matthew Colberg made 17 saves to lead Chartiers Valley (12-0) to a Class A win over Beaver (5-6).
Elizabeth Forward 11, Sewickley Academy 0 – Bobby Boord Jr. had a hat trick and Josh Hill and Owen Sabatini added two goals apiece for Elizabeth Forward (4-5) in a Varsity D2 win over Sewickley Academy (0-11,1).
Fox Chapel 3, Bishop McCort 1 – Nate Sarra had a goal and an assist and Tyler Goldstein and Tucker Cullen also scored for Fox Chapel (8-5) in a Class 2A victory. Nikita Kolomejtsev scored and Hleb Subach made 46 saves for Bishop McCort (4-7-2).
Freeport 5, Richland 3 – Jacob Miller had two goals and an assist, Zach Bowser added a goal and an assist, and Bantam Semanko and Landen Kozma also scored for Freeport (3-8-3) in a Class A win. Jonah Weaver, Austin Blough and Connor Bethmann scored for Richland (4-9).
Indiana 11, Kiski 1 – Phil Bell had a hat trick and added an assist and Ash Lockard, Nate Wood and Landin Wilson each had two goals and two assists in a Class A win for Indiana (11-1-2). Seth Hall scored for Kiski (0-13).
Latrobe 4, Armstrong 2 – Joey Crimboli had a goal and an assist and Bryant Dumnich, Dylan Morris and Louie Amatucci also scored to lead Latrobe (10-3) to a Class 2A win. Adam Hooks and Jake Graff scored for Armstrong (3-9).
Morgantown 4, Carrick 3 (SO) – Jacob Hollander scored the tying goal with 2:01 left to lead Morgantown (9-4) to a shootout win in Varsity D2. Geno Valenti and John Dibartolomeo also scored for Morgantown. Tanner Heidkamp scored twice and Max Hagan added a goal for Carrick (8-4-1).
Mt. Lebanon 4, Upper St. Clair 3 (SO) – Jacob Lehman had a goal and an assist, Ben Kurta and Liam Shinn also scored, and Jackson Bell had a pair of assists for Mt. Lebanon (7-4-1) in a Class 3A shootout win. Eli Rankin and Collin McCarthy each had a goal and an assist and Nevin Shegan-Siniawski also scored for Upper St. Clair (7-2-2), which erased a two-goal third-period deficit.
Penn-Trafford 4, Hempfield 1 – Cam Kiste had a goal and an assist and TJ Ferguson, Drew Hall and Marco Ferraccio also scored for Penn-Trafford (5-4-2) in a Class 2A win. Tyler Funk made 41 saves. Max Short scored for Hempfield (6-6).
Peters Township 4, North Allegheny 3 (OT) – Joey Wateska scored the overtime winner for Peters Township (8-4-1) in a Class 3A victory. Camden Martin had two goals and an assist and Zach Palmieri also scored for Peters. Evan Kerber had a goal and an assist and Ryan Jackman and Alex Dorsch also scored for North Allegheny (8-3-1).
Quaker Valley 3, Shaler 2 – Max Modrovich, Will Watson and Charlie Pyle scored to lead Quaker Valley (11-0) to a Class A win. Benjamin Sarnowski and Luca Wallander scored for Shaler (8-3).
Ringgold 10, Central Valley 5 – Owen Haywood had three goals and an assist and Caden Doran also had a hat trick for Ringgold (6-4-2) in a Varsity D2 win. Bruce Santina had a goal and two assists and Anthony Bonari added a goal and an assist. Gavin Crivelli scored four goals and Logan Sullivan had a goal and an assist for Central Valley (6-7).
Seneca Valley 6, Pine-Richland 4 – Jacob Gilbert and Collin Weston each had a goal and an assist to lead Seneca Valley (10-3) to a Class 3A win. Marshall Hewitt, Antonio Micco, Ian Uram and Ethan Lindberg also scored. Zachary Howard and Josh Lanyard each had two goals and an assist for Pine-Richland (7-4).
Thomas Jefferson 8, Franklin Regional 5 – Andrew Oliver had a hat trick and added an assist, Cameron Lorenzi scored twice and Jake Stock and Brian Spencer each had a goal and an assist for Thomas Jefferson (9-2) in a Class 2A victory. Max Rutkowski scored twice and Shawn Sinclair and Nick Matus each had a goal and an assist for Franklin Regional (7-4-2).
Wheeling Catholic 6, Westmont Hilltop 0 – Logan Pielech had two goals and two assists, Zach Vitlip added a goal and three assists and Ashton Glover had a 13-save shutout as Wheeling Catholic (6-5-1) beat Westmont Hilltop (0-14) in Class A.
Wheeling Park 3, Blackhawk 2 (SO) – Landon Szazynski scored twice to lead Wheeling Park (11-3) to a Class A victory in a shootout. Dylan Leiper and Matias Huber scored for Blackhawk (7-2-1).
