After winning four WPIAL titles a week ago, Franklin Regional senior Nico Megaludis had one more gold medal he wanted to add to his mantel. After finishing third as a freshman, Megaludis rattled off two straight PIAA championships before this weekend. After Saturday night's action, Megaludis was able to keep his undefeated record going (51-0) for a third straight year by beating Jeremy Minich of Boyertown by a 16-4 score at 125.

Megaludis finishes an outstanding high school wrestling career with only one loss in four years and winning three state titles. He will join Greg Warnock on Inside the WPIAL Wrestling Circle, Thursday night at 7pm, to talk about his achievements.

The WPIAL wasn't so successful in the other title matches. Canon-McMillan sophomore Conner Schram at 112, Upper St. Clair junior Mackenzie McGuire at 119, Canon-McMillan senior Nick Catalano at 145, and Pittsburgh Central Catholic junior Jason Luster at 160 all fell just short of being at the top of the podium.

In all the WPIAL claimed 24 PIAA medals with the top two teams from a week ago, Canon-McMillan and Pittsburgh Central Catholic, dominating the action. Canon-McMillan, who won the team championship with 92 points, had all six of their qualifiers place in the top 8 (two seconds, three thirds, and a seventh). Pittsburgh Central Catholic, who was second in the team points race with 79, had all six of their qualifiers also get a medal (one second, one third, two fourths, and two sixths).
