Franklin Regional girls lacrosse tops Mars, advances to PIAA tournament

The season will continue for Franklin Regional's girls lacrosse team.

The Panthers defeated Mars, 13-8, in the WPIAL Class AA third-place consolation game Thursday afternoon at Robert Morris to earn a spot in the PIAA tournament.

Franklin Regional (14-4) will play the District 3 champion in the first round of the state tournament Tuesday.

Noelle Boyd scored four goals, Christina Hodowanec had three and Angie Giannangeli and Lauren Callaham had two each.

Francesca Giacchino and Hannah Turacy each scored once. Kendra Delissio made eight saves in the win.

The Panthers dropped into the consolation game after falling to Quaker Valley, 13-12, in overtime, Monday.
