Coaches association releases final boys volleyball rankings

The WPIAL boys volleyball playoff brackets were revealed Monday morning, and the first-round matches are set for Tuesday.
In advance of the playoff announcement, the Western Pennsylvania Volleyball Coaches Association released its final Class AAA and AA rankings for the 2019 season.
All season, the 39 WPIAL coaches voted for the top 10 and also Players of the Week.
The final Class AAA poll had North Allegheny at No. 1 and Bethel Park at No. 2 followed, in order, by Latrobe, Shaler, Hempfield, Norwin, Seneca Valley, Penn-Trafford, Pine-Richland and Canon-McMillan.
Also receiving votes were Upper St. Clair and Armstrong.
Derry topped the list in Class AA, and Seton La Salle checked in at No. 2. The rest of the top 10: Our Lady of the Sacred Heart at No. 3, followed by Ambridge, Bishop Canevin, Beaver County Christian, North Catholic, Obama Academy, Thomas Jefferson and Deer Lakes.
Trinity also received votes.
The Players of the Week in Class AAA: North Allegheny senior outside hitter Drew Hunker, Shaler junior middle hitter Steve Hoffman, Latrobe junior middle hitter Ethan Kammerer and Seneca Valley freshman libero Coleman McDonough.
Those players recognized in Class AA are OLSH junior setter Brock Saftner, Seton La Salle senior middle hitter Wes Hoge, Montour junior middle hitter/opposite Derek Wassel and North Catholic sophomore setter Rich Kaminski.
