Central Valley Girls Golf in Great Again in States

The gold rush continued Wednesday for the Central Valley girls golf team as the Warriors captured the 2014 PIAA Class AAA Girls Golf team championship with a four stroke victory at the Heritage Hills Golf Resort and Conference Center in York. It was the third straight state crown captured by Central Valley.
Junior Maddy McDanel shot a low score of 75 among all the girls AAA participants while teammates Krista Sudar (89), Alex Bozich (92) and Amanda Scala (96) registered the four best scores and were the only team to have all four top scorers under 100 strokes. The Warriors team total was 352.
Mount St. Joseph finished second with a score of 356 while the Peters Township Indians were third with a total score of 373.
In the PIAA Girls Class AA tournament, District 10 champion Villa Maria Academy won gold with a total score of 389. WPIAL AA champion Sewickley Academy finished fourth with a total of 440 strokes.
For the boys, in Class AAA, St. Joseph’s Prep out of District 12 won the state crown with a score of 322 finishing 3 strokes ahead of runner-up Scranton Prep. WPIAL champion Peters Township was third with a score of 328. The Class AA state champion is New Hope-Solebury which won with a score of 333, ONE stroke ahead of WPIAL champion Sewickley Academy which settled for silver with a total of 334.
