We begin the month of February with the start of postseason scholastic mat action, the final week of the 'Stretch Run' of the regular season in high school basketball and the final month of the high school hockey season this week here on the MSA Sports Network. We have over 50 WPIAL boys and girls section basketball games along with scholastic hardwood boys and girls action from both District 6 and District 9. Here are the FINAL WPIAL team wrestling standings for the 2015-2016 season including the playoff sectional clinchings. The top three teams from each sub-section qualifed for the Section Championship Tournament. The top team in each sub-section faced the runner-up in the opposing sub-section with the two winners then doing battle for the section championship while the two third place finishers face off to determine the fifth qualifier from that section that will move on to the WPIAL Team Wrestling Playoffs. The 2016 WPIAL Team Wrestling Playoffs are now set with the 20 teams in Class AAA and 15 teams in Class AA now knowing they path they need to take to district gold in the one week postseason which starts on Monday, February 1st. In Class AAA, Franklin Regional is the two-time defending champion, but the Panthers will have to win from the 4th-seed and go through top-seed Belle Vernon to Three-peat. In Class AA, will one of the great WPIAL dynasties continue as top-seed Burrell tries to add to their record with a TENTH straight Class AA district crown? Here are the Preliminary Round matches in Class AAA set for Monday and the First Round matchups in both classes on Wednesday. A busy night of postseason mat action in the WPIAL is in the books with the Team Wrestling Sectionals. The top two teams in each sub-section have clinched a berth in the team playoffs and squared off for the section crown while the third place teams in each sub-section were fighting for a playoff berth. WPIAL Alum Q&A – Zack Zavatsky

Greater Latrobe's wrestling team has been one of the top programs in the WPIAL for quite some time. While the Wildcats have had some great grapplers over the years, perhaps no one left a bigger mark than Zack Zavatsky. Zavatsky, a 2014 graduate, compiled an incredible career mark of 166-18 in high school. After posting 41 wins in each of his freshman and sophomore seasons, the 182-pounder went 42-2 as a junior, and finished third in the Class AAA PIAA Championship. His senior campaign, though, was historic, as Zavatsky compiled an undefeated season, going 42-0 and winning the state title by defeating Mount Lebanon's Kellan Stout.This Week on the MSA Sports Network – 01/17/2016

We end into the second half of January with three weeks left in the high school basketball regular season, one week left in wrestling section action and just over a month left in the high school hockey regular season with plenty of action in all three this week here on the MSA Sports Network. The end of another season and the end of the four classification era in Pennsylvania also marks the final cruise on the 2015 Road to Hershey this week here on the MSA Sports Network. We continue our ride on the Road to Hershey on a bust first full week of December this week here on the MSA Sports Network. We follow the two remaining 2015 WPIAL champions in Aliquippa on Friday and Pittsburgh Central Catholic on Saturday as they play in the PIAA Semifinals state football playoffs.
