The lightest Saturday high school football schedule in the WPIAL turned out to be the final Saturday of high school football in the WPIAL. Win and you're in. A simple enough concept, especially for teams facing such a scenario in Week 9 of the WPIAL football season. There were players who put up bigger numbers on Friday none, but none that made more of an impact for their team than these players, whose clutch performance helped their teams clinch a ride on the Highway to Heinz.

For some teams, Friday night in Week night turned into a harsh trick. However for those who were able to rack up the 'W', this final Friday of the regular season served as a delicious treat. When it comes to records, maybe its time to stop thinking about Rushel Shell in a WPIAL sense. Maybe its time to look at the entire state. Shell, Hopewells wonderful junior running back, ran for 193 yards against West Allegheny in a 34-31 overtime win last night. That gave him 6,358 yards for his career.

Welcome to Week 9 of the high school football season. Earlier this week, Chick's Picks heard an absurd story about a man following his dream. A lawyer working at a firm in California happened to be a huge Texas Rangers fan. When his team made it to the World Series, the man quit his job so that he would not miss a moment of the Rangers in the Series.

District College Football Preview for Saturday, October 30th

Halloween is fast approaching and will it be tricks or treats for area college football teams in the coming weekend. The PSAC and PAC races are coming to a conclusion, the Steel City Showdown and Coal Bowl also take place this week, while a pair of teams continue to look for their first win of the season.

A great weekend of college football around the area. This week saw a long division winning streak come to an end as well as the third ranked team in Divsion II go down to defeat. The college football season starts to head downhill towards the finish line in 2010 with some good matchups this week. In the PSAC, third ranked Cal U. travels to Erie to meet Mercyhurst, the Vulcans can clinch a spot in the PSAC title game with a win.

WPIAL/City League Week 8 Thursday Football Scores

A huge showdown in the WPIAL kicked off the second week of the 'Stretch Run' and the eighth weekend of high school football action in this 2010 campaign. Another "Game of the Century" lived up to the billing here on MSA Sports as a pair of unbeatens faced off in deciding the Class AA Century Conference championship.
