Chick’s Picks fields numerous invitations each month requesting that she make a celebrity guest appearance at various events, from pep rallies to town festivals. Although time does not permit Chick’s Picks to attend all of these events, a recently received invite was one she could simply not pass up.

Friday night of Week Five not only brought the curtain down in September, but also the mercury came down as well as the first chilly, gray and somewhat rainy evening befell the guys on the gridiron throughout Southwestern Pennsylvania.

Week Five WPIAL Saturday Football Scores

The first day of October turned out to be the busiest Saturday of the high school football season as we continued the midway point of the 2011 campaign. There was one WPIAL Class AAA game, a pair of Class AA contests and five Class A tilts on a chilly, gray and wet day of football which capped of Week Five.

Big things were expected of Sto-Rox this season and the Vikings have lived up to expectations so far. Especially the big part.A close examination of Sto-Rox’s statistics shows the Vikings have more big plays than Broadway and those big plays are one of the main reasons coach Ron Butschle’s team has an undefeated 4-0 record.

The final Saturday of September in the 2011 high school football season saw two Class AA and three Class A conference tilts. If you do the math, the light schedule gives us a perfect five games to select five top performances. Math makes me dizzy, much like these players Saturday made their opponents feel.
