New Castle Football Coach Charged

Current New Castle football coach Frank Bongivengo has been charged by state police in connection to misuse of funds from a youth football program. The charges were made public in a release by Attorney General Linda Kelly, following an investigation by state police.

WPIAL Football Playoff First Round Recaps 2011

32 teams were winners Friday night and now prepare for the Quarterfinals in the 2011 WPIAL Football Playoffs on 11-11-11. The WPIAL football playoffs start Friday night and never before has the postseason picture looked so perfect.Although the WPIAL started crowning football champions in 1914, the league didn’t have playoff games until 1971. A total of 12 teams head into this year’s playoffs with perfect records. That is the most EVER since the WPIAL started playoff games.

Highway to Heinz – WPIAL Football Playoff Picture

All 64 district high school football playoff berths have been determined, and only one conference is still up in the air going into the final day of the regular season on Saturday. The brackets are unveiled Monday night in all four classification as the Highway to Heinz opens up for First Round action next weekend.

While some teams were forced to do some scoreboard watching Friday night, others just needed to take care of business on the field to either enhance their playoff positioning or just qualify for the district postseason.

Welcome to Week 9 of the high school football season. Friends of Chick’s Picks held the first annual Pumpkin Carve-nival this week to get in the Halloween spirit. The Pumpkin Carve-nival, as it had been dubbed, was not your average pumpkin-carving party. Prizes and pride were on the line, and Chick’s Picks was determined to take home gold in every category.
