Former Northgate, Deer Lakes and Penn-Trafford football coach T.J. Wiley is headed to Bishop Canevin.

Canevin announced Wiley’s hire Wednesday on Twitter. He replaces Chris Lucas, who left Canevin for West Allegheny after one season as the Crusaders’ head coach.

“Of the 14 candidates interviewed and many more considered, Coach Wiley impressed the committee with his energy, enthusiasm, experience and emphasis on student-athletes reaching their full potential in all facets of their lives,” Canevin’s administration said in its announcement.

Wiley coached at Northgate from 2014-17. He spent last season at Vincentian Academy, which played a non-WPIAL schedule while trying to reboot its football program.

His father, John Wiley, a PSFCA Hall of Fame member will be Canevin’s offensive coordinator.

Canevin went 3-7 last season, 1-6 in the Class A Big Seven.
