■ QUAKER VALLEY 51, DERRY 29 Quaker Valley senior quarterback Ricky Guss rushed for 106 yards, scored three touchdowns and threw for two more to lead No. 2 Quaker Valley (10-1) to a 51-29 victory against No. 7 Derry (9-2) in a WPIAL Class 3A quarterfinal Friday.
■ SETON LaSALLE 35, FREEPORT 18 (@ Dormont Stadium) Lionel Deanes rushed for 282 yards and five touchdowns, leading No. 3 Seton LaSalle to a 35-18 victory over Freeport in a WPIAL Class 3A first-round game Friday night.
■ GATEWAY 40, WOODLAND HILLS 28 In the WPIAL Class 5A quarterfinals Friday night, Brady Walker threw for 394 yards and a touchdown and ran for a TD as No. 2 Gateway (10-1) beat No. 7 Woodland Hills, 40-28.

■ UPPER ST. CLAIR 6, FRANKLIN-REGIONAL 3 In a defensive struggle that mirrored a heavyweight boxing match, it was Upper St. Clair that landed enough blows to walk away victorious.
