Seth Fischbach's performance in Burrell's 39-12 Week Zero win over nonconference foe Springdale shouldn't be a looked upon as a breakout game by any means. The sure-handed sophomore wide receiver is just getting warmed up.
“It was a good starting point for him,” Burrell coach Dave Bellinotti said. “I was not surprised, and we have high expectations. We know what's he's capable of, and he responded the way we thought he would.”
The 6-foot, 180-pound wide receiver and cornerback opened the game's scoring with a 5-yard touchdown catch from quarterback Seth Tatrn to set the game's tempo.
He finished with six catches for 61 yards, added a kickoff return of 25 yards and even played some quarterback before the night was through.
What's your favorite position, wide receiver or cornerback?
Definitely wide receiver.
What is your best attribute as a wide receiver?
My hands.
How did being a role player as a freshman help you for this season?
I just kind of learned that I just got to work harder, work on my mistakes and get better.
What was the biggest lesson you learned as a freshman?
Definitely to not jog on the routes.
What's it going to take to get a win against Hopewell this week?
Work hard, learn from our mistakes against Springdale, and be ready for a battle.
Which conference game do you have circled on your schedule?
Probably Freeport or Valley.
What's the one thing Burrell needs to do to reach the postseason?
Just work on small things, listen to coaches, and condition.
Why do you wear the No. 9?
Back when I was in youth football, I had No. 27, in middle school I had No. 8, and in high school No. 8 was taken so I just took No. 9 and stuck with it.
Which player on your team is poised to have a breakout season?
Definitely Logan Bitar. He moved from wide receiver to running back.
Who is your favorite football player?
Dez Bryant.
What are your favorite college and NFL football teams?
Pittsburgh and Pitt.
Do you have a nickname?
They call me “Fishy” and sometimes they call me “Hot Dog.”
Who has the best nickname on the team?
Probably Seth Tatrn; his nickname is “Cream.”
