WPIAL football players to watch for Week 10

Here’s a look at four players to watch this week during the opening round of the WPIAL playoffs:

Sean McGowan

Bethel Park, Jr., RB/QB/S

McGowan ran for 230 yards and a touchdown and also threw a 5-yard TD to Tiger Burkes during Bethel Park’s 20-14 victory over Allegheny Eight Conference rival Upper St. Clair last Friday. He will try to help the No. 8 Black Hawks (6-3) advance against No. 9 Franklin Regional (6-3) in the first round of the Class 5A playoffs Friday night.

Logan Pfeuffer

Peters Township, So., QB

Pfeuffer completed 9 of 12 passes for 191 yards in a 42-7 win over Baldwin last week as Peters Township clinched the Class 5A Allegheny Eight Conference title. The sophomore threw for 1,700 yards and 21 touchdowns this season for the No. 3-seeded Indians (8-2), who will host No. 14 Armstrong (5-5) in the opening round Friday.

Zahmere Robinson

Washington, Jr., WR/DB

Robinson caught eight passes for 157 yards in a 46-36 win over McGuffey last week. He got things started with 42- and 75-yard touchdown receptions for the Little Prexies. No. 6-seeded Washington (9-1) will host No. 11 New Brighton (5-5) in the first round of the WPIAL Class 2A playoffs on Friday.

Cody Ross

Freedom, Sr., FB/LB

Ross ran for 152 yards and two touchdowns last week in a 33-0 win over Western Beaver. Ross will lead the No. 7 Bulldogs (9-1) into the opening round of the Class 2A playoffs, where they will host No. 10 Avonworth (7-3).
