North Allegheny, Sewickley Academy, Knoch advance to PIAA girls tennis semifinals

Three WPIAL girls tennis teams earned a trip to the PIAA semifinals with quarterfinal wins Friday at Hershey Racquet Club.
In Class AAA, Ashley Huang and Ella Sinciline earned singles victories to lead WPIAL champion North Allegheny to a 3-2 victory over WC Henderson from District 1.
The Tigers will play District 1 runner-up Conestoga in the semifinals at 11:30 a.m. Saturday.
The winner advances to Saturday’s finals at 5:30 p.m.
Also in Class AAA, District 1 fourth-place finisher Unionville defeated Peters Township, 4-1, and District 1 champion Harriton beat WPIAL runner-up Shady Side Academy, 5-0.
In Class AA, WPIAL champion Sewickley Academy swept District 3 runner-up Lancaster Catholic, 4-0. Evelyn Safar and Christina Walton won singles matches in straight sets.
The Panthers will play District 1 champion Lower Moreland in the semifinals at 8 a.m. Saturday. The winner plays in the finals at 3:30 p.m.
WPIAL runner-up Knoch also advanced with a 3-2 win over District 2 champion Scranton Prep.
Laura Greb and Brooke Bauer had wins in singles for the Knights, who will play District 3 champion Wyomissing in the semifinals at 9:30 a.m.
