Jewlius Barnes
Freeport, Fr., RB/LB/DL
Barnes, a varsity newcomer in 2018, has gotten more and more opportunities to shine as the season has progressed. He made a season-best 11 tackles, including four for a loss, and recorded a sack in last week’s lopsided victory over Burrell. He has 38 tackles over seven games, good for fifth on the team.
Alex Gamble
Apollo-Ridge, Sr., RB/WR/LB
With injuries to several key players for the Vikings, Gamble has become even more of a focal point on offense, defense and special teams. He ranks second on the team in total tackles with 40 and has an interception, two fumbles caused and two fumble recoveries. He found the end zone last week against Steel Valley with a 75-yard kickoff return.
Josh Goldscheitter
Knoch, Sr., K
Goldscheitter got a kick out of helping the Knights to a victory over New Castle last Friday. He booted three field goals, including the game-winner in the fourth quarter, to lift Knoch past the Red Hurricanes, 24-21, in a Northwest 8 contest. He is the first Knights kicker to make three field goals in a single game since 1994.
Noah Hutcherson
Valley, Sr., TE/DE
With the Vikings holding on in the race for the fourth playoff spot in the Class 2A Allegheny Conference, Hutcherson hopes to be a factor over the final two weeks of the regular season. He came up big last week against conference foe Summit Academy as he caught the game-tying touchdown with five minutes left and added two sacks on Summit’s final drive in what turned out to be a 22-20 victory.
