High school roundup for Sept. 10, 2018: Mt. Lebanon girls snap Moon’s 46-game unbeaten streak

The Moon girls soccer team had a record of 45-0-1 over its last 46 games.

On Monday night, that unbeaten streak came to a close.

Julia Lalama scored with nine minutes remaining to lead Mt. Lebanon to a Section 2-4A victory over reigning WPIAL and PIAA champion Tigers (2-1-1, 1-1-1).

Riley Sweet assisted on the goal for the Blue Devils (2-1-2, 2-0-1).

Canon-McMillan 6, Baldwin 0 — Samantha Snyder had two goals to help Canon-McMillan (1-1-1, 1-1-1) win in Section 2-4A.

Peters Township 10, Brashear 0 — In Section 2-4A, Hannah Stuck scored three times and Regan LaVigna scored twice as No. 1 Peters Township (5-0, 3-0) cruised to victory.

Oakland Catholic 2, Thomas Jefferson 0 — Hannahg Henn scored twice as Oakland Catholic (2-1, 2-0) won a Section 2-3A matchup. Trinity 4, Obama Academy 1 — Alyssa Clutter’s two goals led Trinity (4-0, 3-0) to a Section 3-3A win.

Hempfield 3, Penn Hills 0 — Taylor Hall, Sydney Patrick and Caroline Czarnecki all scored to lead Hempfield (1-1, 1-1) to a Section 3-4A victory.

Norwin 5, Latrobe 1 — Morgan Sigut, Lexi Gray, Katelyn Kauffman, Carly Reith and Kiana Francis all scored to help No. 3 Norwin (3-0, 3-0) to a Section 3-4A victory.

The Knights have outscored opponents 16-3 this season.

Hannah Zimmerman scored for Latrobe (0-4, 0-2).

Hampton 2, Franklin Regional 1 — Emmy Chismer scored the game-winning goal to lead Hampton (2-2, 2-1) to a Section 1-3A victory.

Bella Larese scored for the Panthers (2-2, 1-2).

Greensburg Salem 1, Ringgold 0 — Maddie Gall scored the lone goal to guide Greensburg Salem (3-1, 3-0) to a Section 2-3A victory.

The Golden Lions have outscored their section opponents 7-1.

Deer Lakes 5, Burrell 4 — In a game with plenty of offense, Deer Lakes got the final highlight.

Madeline Boulos scored her second goal of the game three minutes into overtime, giving Deer Lakes a victory over Class AA No. 5 Burrell in a Section 2 game.

Lily Litrun, Jenna Hotovac and Jaden Cutright added goals for Deer Lakes (4-0, 3-0), which beat Burrell for the first time in three years. Lancers’ goalkeeper Gabby Weber made 12 saves.

Danica Johnson, Skylar Dale, Annie Weimer and Cara Fiore all scored for Burrell (2-1-1, 1-1).

Kiski Area 1, Gateway 0— Kiski Area’s Reagan Frederick scored two minutes into the game as the No. 3 Cavaliers (3-0, 3-0) knocked off Section 1-AAA rival Gateway (2-3, 0-3) to remain perfect on the season. Kiski Area goalkeeper Lizzy Arbster had four saves.

Boys soccer

Freeport 6, St. Joseph 4 — Cole Bennick scored a pair of goals and Hunter Hardin had a goal and two assists for Freeport (3-2) in a nonsection win. Addison Stewart, Daniel Lynch and Tanner Hoscheid added a goal apiece for the Yellowjackets. Daniel Fábregas recorded a hat trick for St. Joseph (0-4) and Paul Shandel had a goal. Andrew Sullivan and Eli Swierczewski registered two assists each for the Spartans.
