Scarlett Hudson of Edgeworth elevated her game at a lacrosse showcase event recently in Maryland.

Hudson, who will be a junior at Quaker Valley, was one of 150 players in the 2020 class invited to the two-day Under Armour 150 Premier Girls’ Lacrosse Recruiting Combine.

Players competed in front of college coaches and were tested for speed and agility.

In the 40-yard dash, Hudson, an attacker, tied for fifth place (5.54 seconds).

“I met so many amazing players from all over North America,” Hudson said. “I was able to pick up some new skills.

“My team was fortunate to have some great college coaches on each day of the combine who taught me a lot. I learned that speed and agility play a huge role in a player’s performance.

“I was definitely, faster, stronger and more explosive.”

True Lacrosse director Jennifer Roberts said Hudson, a member of the True Girls 2020 National Summer team, had some great games.

“(She) scored several goals, had some assists (and) ground-ball pick-ups,” Roberts said.

Hudson worked with trainer Jeremy Hoy before the combine.

“She is at a great age of development,” Hoy said. “She worked hard and picked up on all the technique and instruction quickly.

“Before she left, she was re-tested and showed significant improvement in each area and was moving more efficiently, with noticeable gains in acceleration and deceleration and top speed, not only linearly (straight ahead), but also laterally (side to side).”
