Extra bases: Frazier is the defending WPIAL Class 2A champion after defeating South Side, 2-0, last season for its first district title. The Commodores fell in the PIAA quarterfinals. This year, they outscored three playoff opponents — No. 16 Brentwood, No. 9 Neshannock and No. 4 Mohawk — 33-9. Barch has hit five home runs to lead the Commodores. Logan Hartman struck out seven batters in Frazier's semifinal win over Mohawk. Laurel is seeking its first softball championship. It defeated No. 11 Bentworth, No. 3 Seton LaSalle and No. 2 Chartiers-Houston en route to the finals. The Spartans used a six-run first inning to take control against the Bucs. Boyd threw a six-hitter with 10 strikeouts. Latess was 3 for 4 with a home run and three RBIs.
