WPIAL softball playoffs roundup: Nardone tosses perfect game for CW North Catholic

Weather played a little bit of havoc on the WPIAL softball playoffs Monday afternoon as rain and thunderstorms forced site managers to postpone five Class 2A games and one Class A first-round game to Wednesday.
Here's a look at the games that were played:
Class 2A
Cardinal Wuerl North Catholic 15, OLSH 0 (3 inn.) — RMU recruit Toni Schaefer was 4 for 4 with an RBI and three runs scored, and Adrienne Nardone threw a three-inning perfect game with six strikeouts as No.
5 Cardinal Wuerl North Catholic (15-3) won a WPIAL Class 2A first-round game at Fox Chapel.
Frazier 16, Brentwood 0 (4 inn) — Logan Hartman threw a two-hitter with five strikeouts to lead No. 1 Frazier (13-5) to a WPIAL Class 2A first-round win at Peterswood Park.
Kathryn Barch was 3 for 4 with a double, two home runs and three RBIs.
Hartman was 3 for 3, and Rylee Evans had three RBIs.
Kayla Matway hit a double and home run and had two RBIs.
Laurel 8, Bentworth 1 — Maddie Boyd threw a three- hitter with 10 strikeouts to lift No. 6 Laurel () to a WPIAL Class 2A first-round victory at Peterswood Park. Mackenzie Latess was 3 for 3 with a double and RBI, and Breagan Fedrizzi had a double and two RBIs.
Class A
Bishop Canevin 7, Carmichaels 6 — Clare McMahon, Taylor Lokaitis, Kasey Kaczorowski and Brenna Nolf all had extra-base hits as No. 12 Bishop Canevin (9-5) won a WPIAL Class A first-round game at Peters Township.
Alana Losego threw a five-hitter with three strikeouts to earn the win.
Sewickley Academy 13, Mapletown 12 — Kaylee Paterson was 4 for 5 with two doubles and four RBIs as No. 6 Sewickley Academy (11-4) rallied for a WPIAL Class A first-round win at Peterswood Park. No. 11 Mapletown (8-8) led 10-5 in the sixth inning before Sewickley Academy scored five runs in the sixth and three in the seventh for the walk-off win.
Olivia Ryder was 3 for 4 with two RBIs for the Panthers.
St. Joseph 13, Western Beaver 0 (5 inn.) — Shelby Gogal threw a two-hit shutout with three strikeouts as No. 8 St. Joseph (11-3) won a WPIAL Class A first-round game at Fox Chapel.
Serena Edgar homered and had four RBIs, and Anna Swierczewski had two doubles and three RBIs for the Spartans, who will play No. 1 West Greene (16-4) in the quarterfinals.
