Add another log to the rivalry fire that is Jeannette vs Greensburg Central Catholic.
These two schools have had many a fierce competition on the gridiron and the hardwood, and since the turnaround of the Jayhawks baseball program a few years ago, you can add diamond to the list.
Jeannette and Greensburg Central Catholic are playing for more than just bragging rights or momentum heading into the postseason; they are playing for the Section 2-A championship Tuesday.
The Jayhawks beat the Centurions two weeks ago in their first meeting 15-7. Jeannette was trailing 6-3 heading into the home half of the sixth when the Jayhawks' bats exploded for 12 runs. Tre Cunningham picked up the win while Antonio Cavallo suffered the loss.
Of course, regular season games may not mean a thing between these two if last year is any indication.
The Centurions swept both regular season meetings, only to have Jeannette prevail when the two teams met in a WPIAL Class A title game classic, 7-3 in 12 innings.
The game will be played at Hempfield Township Park at 4 p.m.

In Section 1-6A softball, Baldwin (10-1) is the section champ and traditional power Canon-McMillan (8-3) has also clinched. Upper St. Clair (3-8) and Brashear (0-12) have been eliminated from the postseason chase.
The other three teams — Bethel Park (6-5), Mt. Lebanon (6-5) and Peters Township (6-5) — are deadlocked going into the final day of section play.
All three of those teams are home Tuesday. Bethel Park is hosting Baldwin, Mt. Lebanon is home to Upper St. Clair and Peters Township welcomes Canon-McMillan.
If all three win or all three lose, all three qualify. If two of the three teams win, the two winners clinch. If two of the three teams lose, then the one winner is in third place and the other two qualify as tied teams for fourth place.
That is unless it is Peters Township winning and Bethel Park and Mt. Lebanon losing. That would be a bad combination for the Black Hawks since they were swept by the Blue Devils. That particular series of results would leave Bethel Park home for the postseason.
Both the Canon-McMillan at Peters Township and Upper St. Clair at Mt. Lebanon games can be heard on the TribLive High School Sports Network .
Win and in
There are teams that can clinch WPIAL softball playoff berths Tuesday with victories. Granted, some of these teams could lose and still qualify, but let's not muddy the waters here.
Kiski Area is in if it wins at Armstrong.
Gateway is in if it beats Woodland Hills.
Plum is in if it wins at Franklin Regional.
Greensburg Salem is in if it wins at Penn-Trafford.
The winner of the Ambridge at New Castle game will clinch.
Valley is in if it beats Deer Lakes.
Northgate can clinch if it wins one game in a doubleheader against Springdale.
