Dickton Dominates as Blackhawk Beats Ambridge

For the third straight game, Bree Dickton recorded double-digit strikeouts in leading her team to a 6-1 victory against Ambridge in a Class 4A Section 3 matchup on Wednesday.
Dickton recorded twelve strikeouts and scattered six hits in giving up one run to the Bridgers.
Dickton also added some punch at the plate with a double and triple during the afternoon and scored two runs.
Blackhawk got on the scoreboard in the first inning, taking a 1-0 lead by scoring an unearned run. Megan Pinkerton led off the game with a walk. After a couple of strikeouts, Pinkerton advanced to 2B on an illegal pitch and would come around to score when an error was made on a ground ball hit by Dickton.
The Cougars would add another run in the bottom half of the 3rd inning. With two outs, Dickton doubled and scored on an RBI single by Anjelica Taylor.
Ambridge would pull to within 2-1 in the top of the 4th inning when Kim Kuzma crushed a pitch over the centerfield wall to lead off the inning. But, the Bridgers would get no closer.
The Cougars would add four insurance runs in the bottom half of the 6th inning. Jordan Belfiore delivered an RBI single, Kelsey Stoner belted a 2-RBI single and Pinkerton added a sacrifice fly to salt away the win.
Bridgers freshman Ashley Deweese pitched well in defeat, striking out seven Cougars in the loss.
With the win, The Blackhawk Cougars remain perfect on the year with a 4-0 section record.
