For the third time this season, a WPIAL basketball player joined the 2,000-points club.

Chartiers-Houston senior Alexa Williamson accomplished the career milestone this week, joining East Allegheny’s Amani Johnson and Mars’ Robby Carmody, who reached the number last month.

Williamson finished Thursday’s victory over Fort Cherry with exactly 2,000.

Williamson joins a girls basketball list that now includes more than 40 names.

Recent graduates to reach the mark included Blackhawk’s Chassidy Omogrosso (2,686), Cardinal Wuerl North Catholic’s Sam Breen (2,488), McGuffey’s Sammie Weiss (2,394) and Vincentian’s Brenna Wise (2,331).

Johnson scored her 2,000th point Jan. 22.

Next to join could be Leechburg senior Mikayla Lovelace, who’s within 50 points of 2,000. She scored 55 combined in her past two games and faces Winchester-Thurston in a regular-season finale on Monday before the WPIAL playoffs start.

Here’s a list of WPIAL and City League girls who reached 2,000 career points.
