The Kiski Area hockey team suffered an 11-5 loss to undefeated Meadville on Nov. 20, but since then, the Cavaliers have won three straight games and have moved up the standings in PIHL Class A.
At 6-4 (12 points), Kiski Area stands tied for ninth with Norwin.
The Cavaliers, who are averaging 7.2 goals a game and own recent victories over Beaver, 13-4; Greensburg Central Catholic, 8-7; and Freeport, 6-2; hope to keep the streak going with a game against Fox Chapel at 8:20 p.m. Thursday at Center Ice Arena in Delmont.
It is the team's final game of December.
Austin Lapiana is in a scoring race atop Class A with Meadville's Nick Frantz. Lapiana leads the division with 36 points — 24 goals and 12 assists — two points ahead of Nick Frantz.
He also is five points ahead of West Allegheny's Jacob Gyergyo.
Lapiana is on fire during this three-game winning streak. He scored 11 goals and four assists and tallied the game winner against Greensburg Central Catholic.
He owns five games of three or more goals this season and had a sixth game with two goals scored.
Cavaliers teammate James Ayres leads the way with 13 assists, and he has nine goals, including two each in the wins over Beaver and GCC. He recorded a season-best five helpers against Beaver.
