North Allegheny boys soccer player Josh Luchini has earned another impressive honor.

Luchini, a senior forward, was one of 38 boys selected for the Boys High School All-American Game on Dec. 2 in Orlando, Fla.

In its seventh year, the contest is for seniors who will have finished their high school careers and represented their high school teams in the fall season.

Luchini will play for the East.

Earlier, Luchini was named to a High School All-America Watch List by Top Drawer Soccer.

Luchini, 17, of Franklin Park hopes to prove he belongs, and “have fun with other kids across the nation, playing the game I love.”

Luchini, a Lehigh recruit, is a huge offensive weapon for North Allegheny, the defending WPIAL 4A champion.

So far this season, he has scored 26 goals and posted 13 assists. Four of those goals came in a come-from-behind, nonsection win against Hampton Oct. 16 in the final game of the regular season.

The Tigers (15-2-1 overall) claimed the Section 1-4A crown with a 9-0-1 record. The tie came against Seneca Valley, the WPIAL runner-up a year ago.

North Allegheny earned a No. 2 seed and was scheduled to play No. 15 Connellsville (11-5-1) in the first round at home on Saturday.

Tigers coach Bobby Vosmaer does not expect the growing accolades to distract Luchini in the postseason.

“He's a naturally level-headed kid — very grounded,” Vosmaer said.

Luchini said the honor reflects his teammates and “our ability to work together.”

The Tigers bounced back after dropping back-to-back decisions to Bethel Park and Peters Township early in the campaign.

“After those defeats, we were able to finish the regular season without another loss,” Luchini said. “We hope to continue that in the WPIAL playoffs.”
