High school roundup: No. 2 South Park edges No. 3 Keystone Oaks

A pair of red cards put the South Park boys soccer team down two players, but the Eagles still managed to pull out a victory Tuesday night.

Nick Savage scored on a cross from Logan Mannheimer with 14 minutes left to lead No. 2 South Park to a 2-1 win over No. 3 Keystone Oaks (7-1, 4-1) in a Section 1-AA game.

Mannheimer also scored for the Eagles (6-0, 3-0) on an assist from Savage.

Thomas Jefferson 6, McKeesport 0 — AJ Meshanko had a hat trick to lift Thomas Jefferson (2-3-2, 1-1-2) to a win in Section 4-AAA.

Chartiers Valley 5, Gateway 1 — Josh DiMatteo had two goals, and Jimmy Boyle, Nate Wood and Caysen O'Keefe also scored as No. 3 Chartiers Valley (6-2, 4-0) won in Section 4-AAA.

South Fayette 3, West Mifflin 0 — Rudy Panda, Gavin Eldrige and Jake Olzewski scored to help South Fayette (4-2-2, 3-0-1) win in Section 4-AAA.

North Allegheny 2, Butler 0 — Josh Luchini scored twice for No. 5 North Allegheny (7-2, 4-0) in a Section 1-AAAA victory.

Seneca Valley 1, Pine-Richland 0 — Louis Newell netted the game-winner as Seneca Valley (4-1-1, 3-1) won a Section 1-AAAA game.

Canon-McMillan 2, Bethel Park 1 — Brandon Byer and Jeffrey Harbaugh scored to help No. 4 Canon-McMillan (6-1, 3-1) secure a Section 2-AAAA win.

Elizabeth Forward 4, South Allegheny 0 — Zach Lewis had a goal and assist and Brad Thronton, Andrew Smith and Zack Snyder also scored as Elizabeth Forward (5-3, 3-2) won in Section 1-AA.

Boys golf

Section 3-AAA — At Cranberry Highlands, 21 players reached the target score of 81 to advance to the WPIAL Class AAA semifinals. Seneca Valley's Adam Bushee and North Hills' Jacob Stuckert each shot 1-under par 69 to tie for medalist honors.

Section 5-AAA — At Sylvan Heights Golf Course, Moon's Chris Sabol shot 1-over par 72 to finish first at the Section 5-AAA qualifier. Blackhawk's Tyler Robinson (74), Mitchell Faller (74) and Creighton Carter (80); Moon's Christian Silverstri (75) and Justin Cally (79); West Allegheny's Zac Ziolowski (75); and Montour's Clay Bodnar (77) and Logan Vietmeier (80) also qualified.

Section 8-AA — Carmichaels' Matthew Barrish shot 2-over par 74 to finish first at the Section 8-AA qualifier at Duck Hollow. Waynesburg's Aaron Yorio (78) and California's Jacob Cannon (80) also qualified for the WPIAL Class AA championship Sept. 28 at Allegheny Country Club.
