It would have been an empty Saturday high school football schedule in the village of WPIAL had it not been for the tradition of Homecoming. Here parades are held and king and queens are crowned. Oh yeah, and they play some football. Here are the top performances by players whose game accomplishments made them feel like royalty.

John Harper – McKeesport

The young man who carries the keys to the flex-bone offense helped drive McKeesport to a one-sided Class 5-A Big East Conference victory over visiting Latrobe. Harper carried the ball only six times for 84 yards, but half of those totes ended up in the end zone. Plus he hit on 2 of 3 passes for 66 yards and a score as the Tigers rolled to a 48-0 whitewash of the Wildcats.

Ryan Lounder – Burgettstown

The amazing rags to riches story being created by the Burgettstown football team continued Saturday with another dominant chapter written into the books. Quarterback Ryan Lounder continues to shine with his arm and his legs as he opened the scoring with a 9-yard run and then added a 33-yard scoring strike to Jarred John before the end of the first half as the Blue Devils remain perfect with a 45-0 Class 2-A Century Conference shutout of the visiting Brownsville Falcons.

Tyler Bradley – Our Lady of the Sacred Heart

Sometimes high school football teams just to hit a switch (aka swift kick in the behind) to get going. Take the case of Our Lady of the Sacred Heart, who trailed rival Cornell early before ripping off 48 unanswered to cruise to victory. OLSH quarterback Tyler Bradley required the needed electricity as he connected on 13 of 21 passes for 208 yards and two touchdown passes as the Chargers exploded to a 48-18 victory over the still win less Raiders in a Class 1-A Big 7 Conference tilt.
