Mt. Lebanon Nets AAA Gold While Sewickley Academy Wins 8th Straight WPIAL Boys AA Team Tennis Title

For the first time in 17 years, the Mount Lebanon boys tennis team is celebrating gold. The top-seed Blue Devils edged two-time defending champion Shady Side Academy in a match started Thursday and finished Friday due to rain. It is Mount Lebanon's record 18th WPIAL boys tennis title, but first since 1994. In AA, you could say the Sewickley Academy boys tennis team is great, now that they've won eight consecutive district crowns. The Panthers beat Hampton Thursday afternoon to win another WPIAL Boys Class AA Team Tennis Championship. SA has won every year since 2004, and they have tied the WPIAL record of consecutive team tennis titles set by the Upper St Clair girls team from 1994 to 2001.

Here are all of the results from the week long 2011 WPIAL Boys Team Tennis Playoffs, including a Class AA state playoff berth for Winchester Thurston after they edged Quaker Valley Thursday in the consolation match.
