District College Football Recap for Saturday, September 29th

A busy week in district college football as the PSAC took a break from divisional games for crossover action, the PAC saw some wild finishes and Saint Francis and Duquesne met for the 99th time in the NEC.

Here are recaps of all the games played Saturday:

Kutztown 56 – Slippery Rock 49
SRU lost it's 2nd straight game, fumbling 5 times, which led to 28 Kutztown points and a victory for the Golden Bears at Mihalik-Thompson Stadium on Saturday night. QB Nigel Barksdale made his first career start and figured in on 5 Rock touchdowns in the loss. Kevin Morton returned to the Kutztown lineup and threw 4 touchdown passes, the Golden Bears led 42-21 at the half.

Kutztown scored off a turnover early in the first, Barksdale fumbled after a 16 yard gain, Morton took advantage, hitting Colby Tuell for a 12 yard touchdown and the early lead. The Rock had a chance for some points in the quarter but Kurt Brackman missed a 44 yard field goal.

SRU scored on the first play of the second, Barksdale to LaQuinn Stephens-Howling for a 25 yard strike, however Brackman, who had made 44 consecutive extra points, missed the kick and the Rock trailed 7-6. It took the Golden Bears just 2:02 to score again, Morton to Tuell for 15 yards and a score. He hit Kodi Reed for a 17 yard td to go up 21-6 on the next possession. Slippery Rock came back, Akeem Satterfield fining the end zone on a 8 yard run and Brett Crenshaw added the two-point run. The Rock defense held and forced a punt, but Admire Carter fumbled on the return, setting Kutztown up at the SRU 17. Justin Mastromatto ran for a 5 yard touchdown and the flood gates opened.

The Rock was forced to punt, the ball went over the head of James McCombie and was recovered by Mike Garneau for a touchdown to put Kutztown up 35-14 with 2:49 left in the half. Barksdale helped run the SRU offense down the field, running on 3 straight plays, the third an 11 yard touchdown to make it 35-21. A personal foul following the touchdown forced the Rock to kickoff from the 20, Mastromatto returned the kick 53 yards to the Rock 35. Morton hit Brett Fox for a 2 yard touchdown after a pass interference call to allow the Golden Bears to double up the Rock at the break.

Barksdale used his feet to score on the first SRU possession of the second half, going in from 15 yards. He was forced to leave the game temporarily on the next drive, Caleb Vescovi entered at quarterback as starter Jared Buck missed the game with an injury, the drive moved to the Kutztown 15, but a sack and holding penalty stalled out the engine and the Rock was forced to punt.

Barksdale returned following a Kutztown punt, hitting Ken Amos for 63 yards, he connected with Jimmy Zubik for a 8 yard touchdown, cutting the lead to 42-35 after three. The Rock forced a turnover as Dajour Morris intercepted Morton and returned the ball to the 9, where Satterfield scored 2 plays later from the 4 to tie the game at 42. SRU took the lead after another punt, helped by 2 personal fouls against the Golden Bears, Barksdale to Stephens-Howling for 19 yards and a 49-42 lead.

But Morton got the offense rolling for Kutztown, he went 13 plays and 68 yards, finding Mastromatto for a 22 yard td and a tie score with 6:11 to play. Satterfield fumbled at the Rock 21 setting up a Curtis Wortham 3 yard touchdown to take the lead back. SRU took over with 3:41 remaining, Barksdale completed 3 straight passes to get to the Kutztown 23 but was tackled for a 3 yard loss and then threw an incomplete pass to set up a 4th and 7. Coach George Mihalik lifted Barksdale from the game, Vesconi entered the game and hit Stephens-Howling for 11 yards and what would have been a first down, but Matt Connors forced a fumble and Kutztown ran out the clock.

Barksdale ran 23 times for 169 yards, he was 14-24 for 261 yards. Satterfield carried 17 times for 99 yards. Stephens-Howling caught 6 passes for 122 yards. The Rock falls to 2-3 overall.

Morton was 29-54 for 301 and 5 touchdowns. Tuell had 10 catches, Mastromatto 8. The Golden Bears are also 2-3.

Geneva 50 – Thomas More 48 in 4 overtimes
A defensive battle after three quarters with a 15-all game turned into a shootout that took 3 overtimes to settle on College Hill as the Golden Tornadoes pick up their first win of the season and hand the 4-time defending champion Saints their 2nd loss in PAC play.

Rocco Colavecchia scored on a 5 yard run in the fourth overtime for Geneva, Zach Hayward added the two point conversion, in NCAA play, teams must go for two starting in the third overtime. Colavecchia scored twice in the final 2:30 of regulation to bring Geneva back from a 29-15 deficit.

It was a defensive battle for three quarters, that started on the opening possession for Thomas More, who used 19 plays to get to the Geneva 1, but QB Jensen Gebhardt, making his first NCAA start, was stopped twice from scoring as the Saints came up empty. Geneva was forced to punt from the end zone, Thomas More ended up with a short field, Gebhardt hit Cody Hinkel for a 6 yard touchdown and a 7-0 lead after one.

Colavecchia drove the GT's down the field to start the second, but was picked off by Zach Autenrieb at the Thomas More 9, the Saints could not move the ball, Geneva took over at it's own 39 and was able to get a Bryan Visingardi 32 yard field goal to make it 7-3. The Golden Tornadoes ate up almost 6 minutes on their next possession, but did not find the end zone, Visingardi kicked a 31 yard field goal with 1:46 left in the half. But Geneva got the ball back, they tried a pooch kick that was recovered by the GT's at the Saints 24. Jordan Curry was able to go in from 2 yards out with :56 left, the extra point was blocked, Geneva led 12-7 at the half.

Thomas More used special teams to take the lead in the third, Ian Gunn blocked a punt, Jake Fishburn returned it 6 yards for a touchdown, Adam Rauch added a two point run and Thomas More led 15-12. Geneva drove again, this time 14 plays and 70 yards, Visingardi kicked his 3rd field goal from 27 yards to tie the game at 15 thru three.

The score remained that way until early in the fourth, Autenrieb stepped in front of a Hayward pass and returned it 25 yards for a touchdown, it was the senior's 29th career interception, he has tied the D-III record for picks in a career. Thomas More added to the lead on a 12 play drive, Gebhardt to Ryan Winkler for 9 yards and a 29-15 lead with 5:16 left. Geneva took over at their own 23, Hayward was almost perfect, going 8-10 on the drive, Colavecchia scoring with 2:30 left to cut the lead to 7. After the kickoff, the GT defense forced 3 straight losses forcing a punt. Mitch McDowell shanked the kick, giving Geneva the ball at the Thomas More 22. Hayward completed 3 straight passes, then Colavecchia scored from 4 yards out to force overtime.

Neither team scored in the first overtime. Visingardi missed a 31 yard field goal, Aaron Kimbrough missed a 44 yard attempt to send it to a second overtime. Thomas More went first in the second session, Gebhardt hit Winkler for 23 yards, Rauch scored from 2 out to put Thomas More up 36-29. Colavecchia matched it with a 2 yard run of his own to tie the game at 36.

In the third overtime, Geneva scored on it's first play, Hayward to Corey O'Patchen for the 25 yard touchdown, but Colavecchia could not score on the mandatory two-pointer. Rauch scored to tie the game on a 4 yard run three plays later, but Gebhardt could not convert the conversion pass, and on to the fourth overtime. Gebhart hit Goose Cohorn for a 25 yard touchdown on the first play, but again did not connect on the conversion pass, allowing Geneva an opportunity. Colavecchia scored on the 7th play of the drive from 5 yards, Hayward's run was good and the celebration began at Reeves Field.

Colavecchia carried 21 times for 61 yards and 4 scores, he was 3-5 throwing for 14 yards, he caught 4 passes for 30 yards. Hayward was 32-49 for 298 yards. O'Patchen had 9 catches for 109 yards, Jon Bushmire also had 9 catches. Geneva is now 1-3 overall and 1-1 in the PAC. Thomas More falls to 1-3 overall and 1-2 in conference play.

W & J 28 – Bethany 26
It wasn't easy but the Presidents held on for the victory at Cameron Stadium Saturday night, giving W & J 30 straight wins over the Bison.

Ian Hennessy returned an interception 24 yards for a touchdown in the fourth quarter to give the Presidents some breathing room but there were some tense moments late in the contest with the Bison attempting a tying two point conversion.

W & J is now 4-1 overall and stays tied for the PAC lead with what could be a two-team race. W & J and Waynesburg are tied at 3-0 on top the conference, the Yellow Jackets posted a 20-19 win at Thiel yesterday.

Bethany took the opening kickoff and made it 3-0 on a Justin Evans 29 yard field goal. Quarterback Matt Bliss and running back Tim McNerney returned from injury to start for the Presidents, both figured on the opening drive for W & J, Bliss scored from 3 yards to put the Presidents up 7-3. Bethany took the lead back two series later, Matt Grimard hitting Johnathan Foster for a 16 yard touchdown and a 10-7 advantage after one quarter.

Phil Acre extended the Bison lead with a 19 yard td run, finishing a 12 play drive to put the Bison up 10. Evans tacked on a 39 yard field goal to put the Bison up 20-7 at the break. 

McNerney scored on a 4 yard run on the opening drive of the third to cut into the Bison lead, W & J took the lead back on their next possession with a Bliss 10 yard touchdown to Alex Baroffio. The Presidents had a chance to add to the lead but Eric Eberle missed a 28 yard field goal, wide to the right, he came up short on a 53 yard attempt at the end of the half.

The defense was big in the fourth quarter for the Presidents, stopping Acre on a fake punt attempt on 4th and 5 at the W & J 48. The Presidents could not gain a first down and punted back to the Bison. That's where Hennessy stepped in, picking off Grimard and scoring to put W & J 28-20 with 11:53 remaining in regulation.

Bethany scored in the final minute. the Bison took possession with 3:02 remaining, Grimard taking the team 83 yards in 8 plays, the touchdown to Eric Blinn for 21 yards, setting up a two point try. Grimard looked into the end zone, he could not convert the two-pointer and W & J clung to the lead. The Bison attempted the onside kick but Zach DiCicco recovered for the Presidents who ran out the clock for the win.

Bliss was 22-35 for 213 yards in his return, he ran for 72 yards. McNerney carried 20 times for 88 yards. Baroffio had 8 catches for 61 yards.

Bethany falls to 0-4. Acre carried 18 times for 94 yards. Grimard was 22-36 for 234 yards and 1 interception.

West Chester 37 – California 34
The 6th ranked Vulcans dropped the crossover match up at Adamson Stadium on Saturday, likely falling out of the top 15 with the loss. Cal U. never led in the game.

The Golden Rams jumped out to a 7-0 lead 2 minutes into the game, John O'Donnell picked up a Nadir Brown fumble and went 48 yards for a touchdown. Mike Mattei added a 7 yard touchdown pass to Jim Kelly and West Chester led 14-0 after one.

Jeff Knox put Cal on the board in the second with a 2 yard run, but Mattei hit Rondell White for a 22 yard td for a 21-7 lead. Peter Lalich hit Kowan Scott for a 44 yard touchdown with 1:57 left in the half but Mattei and Kelly connected for 51 yards and a td as West Chester led 27-13 at the break.

Knox scored his 2nd touchdown on a 3 yard run, Cal missed the PAT to cut the deficit to 27-19. B.J. Stevens recovered a fumble, setting up Lalich to Trey Johnson for a 12 yard score, Lalich hit Mike Williams for the deuce and the game was tied at 27 thru three.

Shawn Leo kicked a 43 yard field goal, White scored from a yard out to put West Chester up 37-27. Lalich tried to lead another comeback, he hit Johnson for a 15 yard touchdown with 2:16 left. The onside kick was recovered by West Chester, Cal got the ball back with 1:43 with no timeouts, but Lalich was intercepted by Ronell Williams to end the game.

White ran for 200 yards on 36 carries for West Chester, now 4-1. Mattei was 23-43 for 289 yards. Kelly had 8 catches for 123 yards, White added 6 catches and 80 yards.

Lalich was 29-47 for 342 yards, his 4th straight 300 yard game. Johnson had 11 catches for 120 yards. Cal is now 4-1, but remains 2-0 in the West Division, tied with Mercyhurst for the top spot.

Duquesne 24 – Saint Francis 21
Charlie Leventry kicked a 20 yard field goal with 36 seconds left to give the Dukes the win to go to 4-1 on the season. Duquesne scored 11 points in the fourth for the come from behind win.

Larry McCoy opened the scoring with a 4 yard run, that held up till the final two minutes of the second, Keion Wade tied the game at 7 with a 2 yard run. Leventry gave Duquesne back the lead with a 37 yard field goal with 3 seconds remaining.

Wade scored on a 5 yard run in the third, Leventry kicked his second field goal from 30 yards to cut the lead to 14-13 after three. Wade scored 2:16 into the final quarter on a 2 yard run to make it 21-13. McCoy scored his second touchdown with 6:54 left on a 3 yard run, Sean Patterson hit Kyle Shuman for the two-pointer to tie the game, setting up Leventry to win it.

McCoy went over the 100 yard mark in a game for the 23rd time in his career. He finished with 122 yards on 32 carries, he also went over 4 thousand yards, the senior has 4.099 yards. Duquesne is 4-1 overall and 2-0 in the NEC. Patterson was 22-31 for 251 yards.

Wade finished with 21 carries and 82 yards. John Kelly ran for 103 yards and threw for 94. The Red Flash are now 2-3 overall, and 1-1 in the NEC.

Robert Morris 31 – Lafayette 28
The Colonials led 28-7 at the half but needed a Greg Langer 31 yard field goal with 19 seconds remaining to upset the previously unbeaten Leopards and give RMU it's first win of the season.

Mike Neilson opened the scoring by taking a fumble 5 yards for a touchdown. Jeff Sinclair hit Duane Mitchell for a 26 yard touchdown, it was Mitchell's only catch of the day and a 14-0 lead after one. Ross Scheuerman ran for 75 yards on the day, he scored on a 25 yard run to cut into the Robert Morris lead. Sinclair answered, hitting Paul Evans for a 3 yard pass, the former Highlands star ran for a 8 yard touchdown for the 21 point lead at the half.

The second half belonged to Andrew Shoop and Mark Ross of Lafayette. Ross, from just up the road in Hopewell Township, caught 2 touchdown passes from Shoop, 12 and 3 yards to bring the Leopards back into the game. Ross finished the day with 13 catches for 151 yards. Shoop hit Rodney Gould for a 10 yard touchdown with just under 9 minutes to play to tie the game.

Robert Morris was led by Sinclair, who went 15-28 for 201 yards and 13 carries for 84 yards. Donte Jeter had 7 catches for 131 yards. Evan Taylor ran 16 times for 94 yards. RMU is now 1-3.

Shoop was 25-38 for 262 yards. Lafayette is now 3-1.

Bloomsburg 43 – Gannon 24
The Golden Knights led early in the third quarter, but #10 Bloomsburg rallied in the second half to pick up the win in crossover action. Franklyn Quiteh ran for 202 yards on 20 carries, Eddie Mateo added 180 yards on 17 totes, the Huskies racked up 483 yards on the ground.

Bloomsburg led 14-3 in the second on 2 Tim Kelly touchdown passes, Liam Nadler hit Abraham Ocasio for a 11 yard touchdown to cut the lead to 14-10. Kelly hit Kyle Fisher for 38 yards and a score, Nadler answered with a 24 yard pass to Joe Sobucki to make it 21-17 Huskies at the half.

Nadler gave the Golden Knights the lead in the third on an 8 yard pass to Ocasio, but Quiteh scored on a 6 yard run, Mateo on a 11 yard run in the third and Quiteh added a 28 yard run in the fourth to seal the win.

Bloomsburg is now 5-0 and will likely move up at least one spot in the poll with the Cal loss to West Chester. Gannon falls to 1-4. Nadler threw for 289 yards on 30-46. Justin Caliste had 10 catches, Sobucki 6 and Ocasio 5.

Clarion 31 – East Stroudsburg 27
Travis Day scored from 3 yards out with 27 seconds to play to give the Golden Eagles the win at Memorial Stadium. Clarion is now 3-2 on the season, East Stroudsburg falls to 2-2.

Clarion led 7-0 on a Bobby Thomas 25 yard run, the Warriors evened the game at 7 with a Kendrick Williams 3 yard run. Both teams traded field goals in the second for a 10-all tie at the half.

Matt Soltes hit Dusty Reed for a 23 yard touchdown on the opening drive of the third, Thomas scored on a 2 yard run to tie the game at 17. Taylor Groff kicked a 51 yard field goal and ESU led 20-17 after three. Thomas Tippet scored from a yard out to put the Warriors up 10, but Ben Fiscus took over. Fiscus hit Rob Irwin for a 5 yard touchdown to cut the lead to 3, Fiscus then engineered a 14 play 82 yard drive for the game winner.

Fiscus had 167 yards on 22 carries, Thomas carried 18 times for 89 yards before being forced to the sidelines with an injury. Fiscus was 19-30 throwing for 245. Aaron Barlow had 6 catches for 69 yards.

Mercyhurst 36 – Cheyney 10
The Lakers go on the road and pick up their fourth straight win. Brandon Brown-Dukes ran for 99 yards and 3 touchdowns, Anthony Vendemia threw for 2 fourth quarter scores.

Brown-Dukes opened the scoring with a 17 yard run, Justin Watkins gave Cheyney the lead with a 6 yard run. Brown-Dukes scored on a 3 yard run in the second, he added a 5 yard run in the third to put the  Lakers up 20-10. T.J. Latimer added a safety and Vendemia threw td passes to Devyn Woods and Jeff Groene for the final points.

Vendemia was 9-12 for 181 yards. Mercyhurst is now 4-1, Cheyney falls to 1-4, Marcus Jones carried 18 times for 110 yards for the Wolves.

Edinboro 31 – LIU Post 24 in overtime
Cody Harris connected with Marcus Johnson for a 12 yard touchdown to force overtime, then hit Johnson for a 20 yard score to win it for the Fighting Scots, now 2-2

Edinboro led 10-0 after one on a Harris 34 yard touchdown pass to Shawn Walker and a Sean Seefeldt 20 yard field goal. Steven Laurino hit Pat Fitzgerald on the final play of the half for a 2 yard touchdown, it was 10-7 at the break.

Laurino scored on a 9 yard run in the third to give the Pioneers the lead. After a LIU field goal, Harris tied the game at 17 with 5:30 remaining in regulation on a yard run. Laurino drove down the field, he hit Kamron Palmer for a 28 yard touchdown with just 31 seconds left. LIU Post was called for unsportsmanlike conduct following the touchdown, allowing the Fighting Scots good field possession. Harris hit Devin Ghafoor for 41 yards to set up the Johnson touchdown.

Harris hit Johnson on the 2nd play of overtime. Edinboro held on a 4th and 1 from the 16, as Jeff Mack was stopped for no gain and the win for the Fighting Scots.

Harris was 27-34 for 381 yards, figuring in on all 4 touchdowns. Ghafoor had 4 catches for 123 yards, Johnson 7 grabs for 74 yards. Kenny Pettis made 14 tackles for Edinboro. LIU Post is now 2-2.

Shippensburg 49 – Lock Haven 6
Zach Zulli threw for 403 yards on 32-43 and 5 touchdowns as the #21 Red Raiders handed the Bald Eagles their 47th consecutive loss, the longest losing streak in D-II history.

Minnesota-Morris lost 46 consecutive games from 1998-2003, the Bald Eagles have not won a game since the 2007 season and have the longest current losing streak of any team in NCAA football.

West Virginia State 21 – Seton Hill 13
The Griffins scored the first 13 points, but did not score again to fall to 0-5 with the loss on Saturday. Josh Cavalier kicked 2 field goals in the first quarter and Derrick Dyer scored on a 31 yard run in the first minute of the second but that would be all for Seton Hill as West Virginia State won their first road game in 21 tries.

Ricky Phillips put the Yellow Jackets on the board with a 1 yard run, capping a 74 yard drive, Seton Hill led 13-7 at the half.

The second half was all WVSU, Phillips connected with Shawn Bennefield for a 35 yard touchdown and the lead with 14:01 remaining in regulation. Phillips found Ervin Kent for a 26 yard score and an 8 point lead. Seton Hill drove late but Ryan Morris was intercepted with a minute to go.

Phillips threw for 238 yards and the pair of touchdowns. The Yellow Jackets are now 2-3 overall and 1-1 in the WVIAC.

Morris completed 31 passes for 266 yards. DJ Carter caught seven passes for 65 yards while Mike Allen picked up 77 yards receiving on six catches. Dyer rushed for 62 yards and a score. Tyler Zimmer notched a game-high 14 tackle. Robert Jordan had an interception. SHU’s defense was strong, limiting the Yellow Jackets to 56 yards on the ground. The Griffins fall to 0-5 and have lost 11 consecutive home games.

Waynesburg 20 – Thiel 19
The Yellow Jackets rallied in the fourth quarter to preserve the win and remain 3-0 in the PAC, tied for the top spot with W & J. Backup quarterback Carter Hill led the winning drive with a 15 yard td pass to Bennie Thompson with 6:58 remaining in regulation after Tyler Fatigante took several big hits from the Tomcat defense and was forced to the sidelines.

Fatigante staked Waynesburg to a 7-0 lead in the first with a 10 yard touchdown pass to Adam Moses, capping an 11 play drive. Berend Grube put Thiel on the board in the second on a 23 yard pass from Andrew Smith, the Tomcats missed the extra point. Fatigante scored on a yard run with 1:10 left in the half to put Waynesburg up 8 at the break.

Josh Porter scored the only touchdown of the third on a 9 yard run, Thiel went for two and failed, Smith scored on a 9 yard run with 9:52 left in regulation to put the Tomcats up 19-14.

Hill entered the game and hit Andrew English for 41 yards, the drive was also assisted by a pass interference call against the Tomcats. Hill hit Thompson on a 3rd and 3 at the Thiel 15, he could not connect on the conversion pass. Thiel was starting to drive, but Smith was hit and fumbled, John Sikora recovered. Waynesburg could not ice the game, Alex Henry missed a 37 yard field goal, giving the ball back to Thiel with 4 minutes to play.

Smith drove the Tomcats to their own 47, he was forced to leave the game, Brandon Gelet came on and threw 3 incomplete passes and was sacked to give the ball back to Waynesburg. The Yellow Jackets were able this time to run out the clock and move to 5-0 and escape Greenville with the win.

Thiel falls to 1-4 overall and 1-2 in the PAC.

Grove City 23 – Westminster 21
Brian Pell hit Anthony Ritchie for a 5 yard touchdown with 18 seconds remaining to give Grove City the win at Memorial Field in New Wilmington. This sets up a showdown at undefeated Waynesburg next week for the Wolverines.

Shane Kaclik ran for 127 yards on 25 carries for the Wolverines, he went over the 100 yard mark for the 4th straight game.

Pell opened the scoring on a yard run for the Wolverines. Tyler Banks scored on a 3 yard run for Westminster to tie the score at 7 after one. Pell hit Ritchie for the first of two touchdowns, a 10 yard pass, Kurt Devlin added a 35 yard field goal on the final play of the half to put Grove City up 17-7 at the break.

The Titans took the lead back, Dak Britt scored on a 1 yard run late in the third, then hit Gino Pasquinelli for a 21 yard touchdown to give Westminster a 21-17 lead. Westminster forced a punt, a personal foul gave the Titans the ball at the Wolverine 39, but Banks fumbled, Marc Shamley recovered and Grove City was in business. Both teams were forced to punt, the Wolverines got the ball back with 3:26 left. Pell made a huge run to keep the drive alive, as did Ritchie, gaining 3 yards on a 4th and 1 at the 8, setting up the winning score.

Westminster made it interesting, Britt completed a pass to Collin Wallace at the 12 yard line on the final play. Banks finished with 91 yards on 17 carries, the Titans are now 2-2 overall and 1-2 in the PAC.

Pell was 23-34 for 200 yards, Ritchie had 9 catches, the Wolverines are 3-2 overall and 2-1 in the conference.

Wabash 54 – Carnegie Mellon 28
The Tartans jumped out to a 21-7 lead but the Little Giants, fresh off an upset by Allegheny last week, rallied for the home win.

CMU took the lead on a Patrick Blanks 2 yard run, Chase Belton tied the game with a touchdown run of 21 yards. Zachery Era-Hernandez scored on a 4 yard run, then Sam Thompson returned a punt 92 yards for a score and things were looking great for CMU.

Belton connected with Sean Hildebrand for two touchdowns and ran for another score to put the #17 Little Giants up 28-21 at the half. After an Ian MacDougal field goal, Blanks scored his 2nd touchdown on a 38 yard pass from Rob Kalkstein to cut the Wabash lead to 31-28 after three.

But the fourth quarter was all Belton, he threw 2 more touchdown passes and ran for a score and the win. Belton finished with 20 carries for 193 yards, he threw for 183 yards on 13-23 and figured in on 7 touchdowns. Wabash is now 3-1 on the season.

Blanks carried 26 times for 157 yards, Kalkstein was 17-24 for 229 yards, the Tartans fall to 4-1.

Allegheny 15 – Oberlin 3
The Gators won a hard fought battle in Meadville despite turning the ball over 6 times in the win.

Erickson Andrews gave the Yeoman a 3-0 halftime lead with a 35 yard field goal. The Gators came back in the second half, using ball control drives. Ben Perko scored on a 2 yard run, capping a 10 play drive in the third and Tim Werley scored on a 2 yard run with 4:23 remaining in regulation, using a 12 play march. John Douglas was able to gain a safety for the Gators in the final minute to ice the win.

Oberlin falls to 1-3 overall and 0-2 in the NCAC. Allegheny is now 3-1 overall and 2-0 in conference play.
