Hometown Softball Broadcast Recap for Brentwood on 4/14/14

On a rainy Monday afternoon at Brentwood High School, the Lady Spartans defeated the South Allegheny Lady Gladiators, 8-5 in a Class AA, Section 4 matchup.
Brentwood scored five times in the first two innings to give themselves an early lead with which to work.
They would also tack on three more runs in the bottom of the fifth giving themselves their largest lead of the day.
Alexis Wagner gave the Lady Spartans a complete game performance on the mound and only gave up one run on six hits through her first six innings of work. Wagner ran into some trouble during the top of the seventh when, with two outs, she allowed a single and six straight walks, allowing four runs to come across for South Allegheny. Despite the tough finish, Wagner would close out the inning successfully for the Spartan victory. She also had five strikeouts on the day.
Top offensive performers for Brentwood included Sydney Bauer who was 2 for 3 with two runs scored and two stolen bases and Taryn Sherry who was also 2 for 3 including an RBI triple and a run scored. Also Hannah Livingston went 2 for 4 with a single, a triple, and a run scored. Livingston also had a stellar day defensively from her centerfield position. Alexis Gaughan, Alecia Folino, and Alexis Bubacz each accounted for RBIs as well. Pitcher Alexis Wagner was opposed by Brenna Pribanic for South Allegheny who pitched all six innings and finished with eight strikeouts and one walk while giving up eight runs on 11 hits. Both Tiffany Nacaratto and Spencer Lawson went 2 for 3 on the day with a walk. Lawson scored twice and Nacaratto scored once.
The Lady Gladiators finished with seven hits and seven walks.
Brentwood and South Allegheny are now tied in Section 4 with 3-2 conference records while South Allegheny remains just one game up in the overall standings at 5-2. Brentwood now stands at 4-3 overall.
