In Hometown Volleyball action between the Blackhawk Cougars and the Beaver Bobcats at Blackhawk high school, Beaver wins the match 3-1. Game scores were, 25-18, 19-25, 25-22, 25-14.

Both teams came into this pivotal section 1 AA match tied with identical 7-1 records and tied for first place with section rival Hopewell. All three teams have clinched a playoff berth, but we're tied as Beaver had a win over Blackhawk, and Hopewell over Beaver, and Blackhawk over Hopewell. This match tonite went a long way to determine the section champion and playoff position. The Cougars play Hopewell next week, while Beaver will take on the Vikings this Thursday night.

In tonites match the Cougars struggled in game one and trailed early by an 11-5 score. They made too many unforced errors and Beaver won easily 25-18. In game 2 the Cougars were a different and determined team. They led the whole way and at one point were up 20-11 before winning 25-19. Senior Allie Menges and Junior Nikki Beatty two of the more improved players for the Cougars on the year led the way with strong front court play. Junior Brooke Tomasko came off the bench and provided a spark on offense as well. The Cougars offense pressed the issue and kept Beaver on its heels all game.

The pivotal game three was back and forth as we saw 4 ties. One team would punch, the other counterpunch. Tied at 17-17 the Bobcats took over and despite strong serving from Menges and Senior Hannah Schally won 25-22.

Into game 4 it was obvious the momentum was all Beaver. They took it to the Cougars and won easily 25-14. All of the service errors, and unforced errors on long shots caught up to Blackhawk. That and Beaver's stellar defense. Any time the Cougars got offense going, someone from the Bobcats made a strong diving dig, or perfect net defense. Despite Blackhawk using a 9 girl rotation and Beaver only rarely using 2 subs the Bobcats would not tire and withstood the Cougars offense.

Blackhawk falls to 7-2 in the section with 3 games left. Beaver improves to 8-1. If Beaver loses to Hopewell , and Blackhawk beats Hopewell on the last night of section play, and all three teams win their other section games then there will be a 3 way tie for the section championship.
