An investigation into alleged misconduct by Ringgold football players was completed and the team can resume its season, the school district announced Monday.
In a letter addressed to the Ringgold community, superintendent Randall Skrinjorich said Ringgold School District Police and the Washington County District Attorney’s Office “conducted a thorough investigation into possible criminal conduct” and no charges were filed.
Skrinjorich said a school district investigation concluded “there was inappropriate behavior and violations to the district’s athletic rules and regulations; however, these violations were isolated to a small subset of the football players and were not pervasive. We have also concluded that at no time was the coaching staff aware of the misconduct … .”
As a result, the football program was permitted to resume team activities Monday. Without providing details, Skrinjorich said “corrective action” was taken “to ensure such conduct does not repeat itself.”
Ringgold canceled last week’s game against Thomas Jefferson. The WPIAL on Tuesday designated their Big Six Conference contest as a forfeit win for Thomas Jefferson.
The Rams (1-7, 0-3) are scheduled to host Belle Vernon on Friday.
