Only two district teams won state diamond gold this spring, and both were on the softball field at Penn State.
The WPIAL had four teams reach the PIAA softball championship game, and two came home with the gold — Thomas Jefferson in Class 5A and undefeated Neshannock in 2A.
Elizabeth Forward in 4A and Carmichaels in A settled for state silver.
All three WPIAL baseball teams that reached the state finals at Penn State ended up coming up short of a PIAA crown as Indiana in 4A, Avonworth in 3A and Eden Christian Academy in A brought home runner-up trophies.
The two teams that ended up on top in the final Trib 10 power rankings were the Neshannock softball team and the Avonworth baseball squad.
Here are the final power rankings for the 2024 season. The overall record is followed by the teams’ ranking last week.
These weekly rankings have zero classification boundaries.
