Ethan Stanhoff and Dylan Paul each drove in three runs and Michael Bruckner knocked in a pair to lead No. 5 Bethel Park to an 11-1 victory over No. 12 Trinity in the WPIAL Class 5A baseball quarterfinals Tuesday.

Santino Diulus allowed one run and struck out seven in six innings for the Black Hawks (14-6-1). Mekhi Bouman brought home the only run for the Hillers (9-9). Bethel Park will take on No. 1 West Allegheny in Wednesday’s semifinals.

Bishop Canevin 7, Carmichaels 1 – Kole Olszewski went 3 for 4 with a pair of doubles and three RBIs and Kellen Andruscik drove in two with a double as No. 4 Bishop Canevin (14-4) beat No. 8 Carmichaels (13-5) in the Class A semifinals. Tyler Maddix yielded one unearned run on three hits, struck out eight and doubled in a run for the Crusaders. Robbie Wilson-Jones singled and scored for the Mighty Mikes. Bishop Canevin advances to the WPIAL finals to face No. 2 Eden Christian.

Eden Christian 11, Avella 2 – Winning pitcher Noah Emswiler tossed a complete game, allowing two runs on five hits with seven strikeouts, while going 2 for 4 at the plate with a double and a pair of RBIs as No. 2 Eden Christian (16-4) cruised to a Class A semifinals win. Charlie Wolf, Brett Feldman and Brady Hull each knocked in two runs for the Warriors, who will play No. 4 Bishop Canevin in the WPIAL finals. Brian Martos tripled and drove in a run for No. 6 Avella (11-6).

Indiana 11, Montour 0 – Andrew McGee doubled twice and drove in five runs and Ben Ryan belted a solo home run as No. 9 Indiana (13-9) blanked No. 4 Montour (15-6) in the Class 4A semifinals. Ryan Okopal tossed five scoreless innings, giving up only two hits and striking out four for the Little Indians. Andrew Porto doubled for the Spartans. Charlie Manzi went 1 for 2 with a pair of RBIs for Indiana, which will play No. 6 North Catholic in the WPIAL championship game.

North Catholic 12, Thomas Jefferson 4 – Ryan Shantz and Tommy Koroly each tripled and knocked in two runs and Blake Primrose went 2 for 4 with a triple and three RBIs to lead No. 6 North Catholic (16-4) to a Class 4A semifinal upset win. Owen Beatrice tripled and drove in a run, Thomas Schafale went 3 for 4 with an RBI, and Caden Williams fanned five for the Trojans. Alec Warden smashed a three-run homer for No. 2 Thomas Jefferson (19-3). North Catholic will play No. 9 Indiana in the finals at Wild Things Park.

Riverside 2, South Allegheny 0 – Zack Hare gave up two hits and struck out 11 in six shutout innings and Hunter Garvin fanned three in a scoreless seventh for the save as top-seeded Riverside (16-1) beat No. 4 South Allegheny (17-5) in the Class 3A semifinals. Bo Fornataro and Drake Fox each drove in a run for the Panthers, who will take on No. 7 Avonworth in the WPIAL finals. Adam Jakcowski gave up six hits, walked one and struck out a pair for the Gladiators.

Serra Catholic 5, Burgettstown 1 – Collin Holmes went 2 for 3 with an RBI, Bodi Rieger brought home a pair of runs, and Zach Black doubled as No. 1 Serra Catholic (17-1) defeated No. 4 Burgettstown (13-4-1) in the Class 2A semifinals. Owen Dumbrosky allowed one run on five hits and struck out three in a complete game for the Eagles. Brodie Kuzior doubled and Sam Elich drove in the only run for the Blue Devils. Serra Catholic will face No. 3 Seton LaSalle in the finals.

Seton LaSalle 9, OLSH 6 – Nate Baxendall hit the go-ahead two-run single during a six-run seventh inning as No. 3 Seton LaSalle (16-3) rallied for a Class 2A semifinal win. Michael Todd went 3 for 5 with a double and an RBI and Mark Weber singled, doubled and knocked in three for the Rebels, who will take on No. 1 Serra Catholic in the WPIAL finals. Brady Brazell singled, doubled and drove in a run for No. 2 OLSH (17-5).

West Allegheny 5, Shaler 0 – Brandon Boyce gave up one hit and struck out five in 5⅔ innings and Will Gubba yielded a hit and fanned two in 1⅓ scoreless innings as top-seeded West Allegheny (16-3) dethroned No. 8 Shaler (16-6) in the Class 5A quarterfinals. Brock Cornell and Logan Lambert each drove in a pair of runs and Ben Kern went 2 for 4 with an RBI for the Indians. Troy Leas doubled for the Titans. West Allegheny will take on No. 5 Bethel Park in the semifinals Wednesday.

Obama Academy 3, DuBois 1 – Simon Moak drove in three runs and Clark Ehman went 3 for 3 as Obama Academy prevailed over DuBois in the District 6-8-9 Class 5A subregional semifinals. James Lozecki gave up one run on three hits and struck out five in four innings for the win while Chad Helwich struck out six in three scoreless innings for the Eagles, who will face Hollidaysburg in the subregional title game Tuesday, May 28.

Softball

Bentworth 2, Laurel 1 – Sofia Gaussa slashed a walk-off two-run double with two outs in the bottom of the seventh to propel No. 2 Bentworth (16-2) past No. 3 Laurel (17-5) in the Class 2A semifinals. Sydney Gonglik gave up one run on three hits and fanned 14 in a complete game and went 2 for 2 at the plate for the Bearcats. Autumn Boyd went 1 for 3 with a double for the Spartans. Bentworth will take on top-seeded Neshannock in the WPIAL championship game.

Mohawk 5, Avonworth 3 – Gigi Cowher went 2 for 3 with a double and drove in two runs, Aricka Young and Addy Moskal each doubled and knocked in a run, and Reagan Magno earned the complete-game win as No. 4 Mohawk (17-5) toppled top-seeded Avonworth (14-4) in the Class 3A semifinals. Rylee Gray went 2 for 3 with a home run and a pair of RBIs while Alivia Lantzy struck out 10 in seven innings for the Antelopes. Mohawk will play No. 3 South Park in the WPIAL finals.

Neshannock 5, OLSH 0 – Addy Frye threw a one-hit shutout with 14 strikeouts and Miley Anderson homered to lead No. 1 Neshannock (20-0) in the Class 2A semifinals. Gabby Quinn singled, doubled and drove in a run and Jaidon Nogay doubled and tripled for the Lancers, who will meet No. 2 Bentworth in the championship game. Leann Walzer had the lone hit for No. 5 OLSH (14-5).

Boys volleyball

North Allegheny 3, Butler 0 – Stone Gaertner had nine kills and Peter Bratich added eight kills and three blocks to lead No. 2 North Allegheny (13-1) past No. 3 Butler (11-7) in the Class 3A semifinals. Will Hahn had 21 digs and Ryan Quatman handed out 16 assists for the Tigers, who will meet No. 1 Shaler in the finals. The Titans (15-1) topped No. 5 Seneca Valley (14-7), 3-0, in the other semifinal. The Tigers and Titans split a pair of meetings in the regular season.

In the Class 2A semifinals, No. 1 Mars (19-0) stayed undefeated with a tough 3-2 win over No. 4 Ambridge (13-4). In the other semifinal, No. 6 Armstrong (11-8) defeated No. 10 Thomas Jefferson (13-5), 3-2.
