The Fox Chapel hockey team will be well-represented at the PIHL Class 2A All-Star game.
Cam Raidna was chosen as a coach. Fox Chapel also had forwards Liam Wiseman and Dom Casile and defenseman Tyler Goldstein picked to play in the game.
Wiseman leads the team with 15 goals and has added eight assists.
Casile leads the team with 24 points, including 11 goals and 13 assists. Goldstein has seven points this season, including six assists.
Fox Chapel is in fifth place in Class 2A. The Foxes are 8-5 and have outscored their opponents, 67-57.
Schedule helps Foxes
The Foxes had a tough week ahead, with matchups with Woodland Hills and Shaler looming, but the Fox Chapel boys basketball team showed playing a demanding nonsection schedule was exactly what the program needed. The Foxes took their difficult losses, including a 67-56 four-overtime affair with Baldwin, and learned from the experience.
Fox Chapel (8-6, 3-0) opened section play by knocking off defending section champion Penn Hills, 61-52, and followed that up with wins over Plum and Armstrong.
Pasquella, Howell set records
The Fox Chapel girls swimming team is off to a 4-2 start in dual meets, including a win over Plum during their section opener. There have been several individual performances that have shown through for Fox Chapel for both teams.
Owen Howell set the 200 IM pool record at Fox Chapel with a time of 1:56.25. Sarah Pasquella has picked up a pair of records so far this season. Pasquella has the new 100 breaststroke pool record at Fox Chapel with a time of 1:03.93. Pasquella also set the 200 free pool record at Seneca Valley with a time of 1:53.74.
Indoor track to start season
Senior Anna Troutman will be looking to grab another medal at the state indoor competition this year. The Foxes were scheduled to compete at their first competition Jan. 13 at Edinboro. The state championships will be on Feb. 25 at Penn State.
Last season, Troutman competed at states in the 60-meter hurdles and the high jump. She finished 18th in the hurdles with a time of 9.59 seconds. She was 10th in the high jump with a leap of 5 feet, 2 inches.
