Derry hired Nick Raymond as athletic director Thursday.

An Indiana resident and the current AD at Johnstown’s Forest Hills High School in District 6, Raymond replaces Brett Miller, who resigned to take a position at Seton Hill.

Raymond, 32, said he is expecting to start around Thanksgiving.

He has been the AD at Forest Hills for about two years after working as an assistant recreation and program director for White Township Recreation for five years.

He also coached football at Homer-Center High School, his alma mater where he was a three-sport athlete, for 12 years.

He is an IUP graduate, where he earned undergraduate and masters degrees in sports administration and business administration, and sports management.

“Athletics are something that have been part of my life as long as I can remember,” Raymond said. “My father (Gene) has been a (football) coach for over 40 years and he was the AD at Homer-Center, along with being the vice principal for a long time.

“The opportunity to continue this career path at Derry is truly a blessing.”

Raymond said he hopes adapt quickly at Derry.

“Forest Hills is a top-notch school district with not just facilities, but administration, teachers, staff and people as well,” he said. “That community really loves and appreciated athletics. I am sure there are a few things I can take from there and apply to Derry.”

As a football coach, Raymond won two District 6 championships, in 2013 and ‘17.
