Former WPIAL basketball player Alier Maluk, who won a state title last winter with Imani Christian, announced his commitment to Florida State on Friday.

The 6-foot-10 junior also listed offers from Pitt, LSU, Ohio State and Oregon among his final five.

ESPN.com and Rivals.com both rated Maluk as a four-star prospect. Rivals ranked him 21st overall among recruits in the 2025 graduating class, while ESPN had him 50th.

Maluk transferred in August to Long Island Lutheran in Brookville, N.Y.

As a sophomore at Imani Christian, he’d averaged 15.1 points, 8.5 rebounds and 3.1 blocks per game as the Saints went 23-6, winning WPIAL and PIAA Class A titles. In the state finals alone, he had 20 points, 11 rebounds and three blocks.

Maluk listed more than a dozen college offers, including Penn State, West Virginia, Cincinnati, Texas A&M, N.C. State, Vanderbilt, Seton Hall, Washington, Maryland and Auburn.

He was born in South Sudan but lived in Western Pennsylvania much of his life. He attended middle school at Bethel Park before transferring to Imani Christian as a freshman.
