There is a change at the top in Class A as the Western Pennsylvania Volleyball Coaches Association released its Week 4 WPIAL girls rankings Monday morning.

Serra Catholic, last year’s WPIAL runner-up, unseated Bishop Canevin. The Eagles improved last week to 6-0 overall and 5-0 in Section 4-A.

Defending WPIAL champion Frazier (7-1, 6-0) bumped up one spot to No. 1, while Bishop Canevin (7-0, 6-0) remained undefeated but slipped to No. 3 in the rankings.

North Allegheny (Class 4A), Hampton (Class 3A) and Freeport (Class 2A) held on to their No. 1 positions in their respective classes.

The biggest movers this week include Peters Township in Class 4A, up two spots from No. 8 last week.

Avonworth (up to No. 3), Southmoreland (No. 6), Keystone Oaks (No. 7), and Burrell (No. 8) each moved up two spots in Class 2A.

California jumped three spots to No. 7 in the Class A poll.

Derry and Beaver Falls enter the Class 2A poll this week. They are tied for 10th.

West Greene enters the Class A poll at No. 10.

Each week, every WPIAL girls volleyball head coach has the opportunity to vote for the teams who will appear in the top 10 for each classification.

Also, the players of the week are selected based on coaches nominations.
