The Herald Spotlight Athlete: Alex Wecht, Fox Chapel

When wrestling season ends, Alex Wecht, a senior for Fox Chapel, will see his scholastic sports career come to a close.

He also was a two-way player on the football team and made first team all-conference as an outside linebacker.

He was chosen as a 2019 High School Scholar All-American wrestler. He plans to continue wrestling at Trinity and major in environmental law.

Here’s a closer look at this week’s Spotlight Athlete:

Do you have to watch what you eat during wrestling season?

Yep.

What junk food do you have a weakness for?

Ice cream.

What do you like to do in your spare time?

Run, read and stretch.

What three famous people would you like to have dinner with?

My mother’s father, who I never met, and my great-grandparents.

What is your favorite vacation destination?

Long Island Sound.

Where would you like to go that you’ve never been before?

Switzerland.

Who would be your dream date?

My girlfriend.

Do you see yourself living in Pittsburgh for a long time?

I do, but it depends on where my opportunities are.

What is your favorite TV show?

“Breaking Bad”

What movie could you watch over and over?

“Stepbrothers”

Will you be going to many Pirate games this season?

Absolutely not.

What would make up your favorite meal?

Surf and turf with ice cream.

What kind of music do you like to listen to?

Hip hop and reggae.

People would be surprised to know that you …
