Mt. Pleasant has a new wrestling coach. It’s former Hempfield assistant Zach Snyder, who was hired at Monday’s school board meeting.
Snyder replaces Zach Sheridan, who was not rehired after serving as coach for the past five seasons. Mt. Pleasant coaches work on a one-year contract.
Snyder was an assistant under Tommy Dolde at Hempfield and Connellsville, his alma mater where he also wrestled.
Mt. Pleasant’s numbers were low the past few seasons, but Sheridan had a strong group of underclassmen coming back and a good group of middle school wrestlers set to join the team.
The group included freshmen PIAA Class AA champion Dayton Pitzer and PIAA southwest regional qualifiers Luke Geibig (32-12, 106), Noah Gnibus (21-9, 113) and Noah Teeter (35-11, 120).
