Robby Shymansky has an opportunity to double his WPIAL singles success.

The Fox Chapel senior, the defending WPIAL Class AAA singles champion, advanced to the finals again with a 6-0, 6-1 victory over South Fayette’s Jacob Patterson in the semifinals Monday at Oxford Athletic Club North in Wexford.

Shymansky will face Allderdice’s David Missry in the finals at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Mt. Lebanon High School. Missry defeated Sewickley Academy’s Arjan Bedi — the 2018 WPIAL Class AA singles champion — in straight sets in the semifinals.

With Bedi now in Class AAA, a new champion will be crowned in Class AA. Thomas Jefferson’s Yash Maheshwari will face Indiana’s Zachary Palko in the finals at 2 p.m. Tuesday, also at Mt. Lebanon.

Maheshwari, who lost to Bedi in the 2018 section finals, made it back to the championship round after beating Valley’s Michael Odrey in straight sets in the semifinals at Greensburg Raquet Club. Palko defeated Quaker Valley’s Andres Hubsch in straight sets in the other semifinal.

Bedi and Patterson will square off in the Class AAA consolation match, as will Hubsch and Odrey in the Class AA consolation match. The winners of each consolation match will join the finalists at the PIAA singles tournaments next month at Hershey Racquet Club.
