Riverview’s Alyssa Cappa ties school record with 17 strikeouts

Oakmont’s Alyssa Cappa, playing for her Nitro club team this summer, will take part in an international softball tournament from Friday to Sunday in the Netherlands.
Alyssa Cappa was in the zone Thursday: the strike zone.
The Riverview junior tied the school record with 17 strikeouts in a 10-7 walkoff win over Valley in a nonsection game. Cappa pitched a complete game, giving up six hits and seven runs — a handful of which were unearned.
In 12 2/3 innings this season, Cappa has 26 strikeouts. She also hit a fourth-inning home run Thursday, her second of the season.
Mikaela Collins’ three-run homer in the bottom of the seventh inning gave Riverview (1-1) the walkoff win.
