Hess Ice Rink in New Castle won the inaugural “Renovate the Rink” contest and will receive $100,000 for improvements from the Pittsburgh Penguins Foundation and Pittsburgh Commercial Construction.

Hess finished first in an online fan vote at pittsburghpenguins.com in February.

Kirk S. Nevin Arena in Greensburg and The Ice Mine in Connellsville were the other finalists.

The money will go toward larger locker rooms, an expanded lobby area, new seating and expanded skate rental.

All three finalists will receive a set of divider boards from The Chemours Company.
