Title game history: West Greene has never won a WPIAL girls basketball championship. The Pioneers reached the district finals a year ago where they lost to Winchester Thurston, 76-57. … A first time champion is guaranteed since Rochester also has never won a girls basketball crown. In fact, this will be the Rams’ first ever title-game appearance.
Stat leaders: WG: McKenna Lampe 14.1 ppg; Roch: Alexis Robison 17.6
Notable: West Greene won 17 games in a row between losses to Southmoreland on Dec. 8 and to Bishop Canevin on Feb. 2. The Pioneers have won four straight, including a 10-point win over Sewickley Academy in the quarterfinals and a four-point win over 2018 Class 2A champion Vincentian Academy in the semis. The Lampe twins, McKenna and Madison, will attend Carlow to play softball. … Rochester started the season 2-3 overall before winning 13 consecutive games. The Rams then lost three of their final four regular-season games before playoff wins over Avella and Quigley Catholic. Rochester lost to West Greene in the WPIAL quarterfinals in each of the last two seasons, 51-37 in 2017 and 73-43 last year.
